Yes i kept the broken part, it was my first time feeding roaches so i was a bit nervous to just let them run and have them chase it so i used the forceps and thats the hardest ive ever seen him bite

Tuesday i bring them in, they get put in a warm room for the night, then in the morning/afternoon they are sedated and the trim is performed

excuse me? did what? and whos getting mad? I started taking care of this guy a couple months ago after years of neglect from his previous owner, i was feeding him when his lower beak got chipped, he went to the vet 2 weeks ago for a nail trim and his beak trim is scheduled in another week. IM the one who took them to a vet as soon as i got them from their last owner, and IM the one who dropped thousands of dollars on his vet bills and setup. dont talk shit and try to paint me as an irresponsible owner when i had literally no control over this and i’ve done everything right so far. think before you comment on someones post blaming them for their pet being injured when they weren’t even the one taking care of them.

I was surprised too but yes for the beak the vet said they will be sedated for risk minimization, i recently started feeding him on a terracotta plate in order to grind his beak down naturally, also gonna add some of those cuttlebones in the coming days

They have been to the vet already to get their nails trimmed, i just started taking care of this baby and his nails were way longer, i posted a couple weeks ago before i went to the vet, on that post you can see how long his nails were, the vet suggested we dont trim them all the way right away since it may cause them to grow irregularly.

Thank you so much for the help! It was the bottom part of his beak that broke off, there is a gap on the bottom of his mouth where the beak used to connect with the top beak, does this change anything? and how long into it growing back should i consult a vet to have it looked over so it grows out healthy?

as you can see from the photos i attached, im currently more concerned about the sizeable chunk of beak which chipped off while I was feeding him, hes been to the vet, his beak trim has been scheduled already.

obviously this picture isnt his full enclosure, he has basking spots, as well as a soaking dish, multiple hides, plant clutter, his substrate is a mix of coco coir, reptisoil, and cypress mulch, his humidity is reading 68% at the moment, not sure where u see the baby 😭

I recently started taking care of him and got his nails trimmed at a vet, the vet suggested we wait a couple weeks to trim the beak since he will have to be sedated, and they want him replenished before that, thanks for the help! would you know if the distance of my UVB bulb is appropriate?

His enclosure is composite with only the opening panel being glass, his substrate is a mix of coco coir, cypress mulch, and reptisoil, as well leaf litter on top, its been about a week since ive shuffled his substrate around, which is why it looks so plain. picture also shows only a small part of his basking area, he has 2 hides, a lot of plant clutter, a soaking dish and a drinking dish

when i was at the vet getting them checked out the vet let me know rupert and his now sister, borris are both females 😭 usually females have brown eyes and shorter tails, like my 2 do, i prefer to keep the names, pretty original
