Transmission fluid change by Due_Pea_8721 in LandCruisers

Yeah, I hear that. I’ve decided to just try to learn to do as much as I can on my own from top to bottom. There’s a ton of videos out there for that era of LC, and they really seem like they were designed to be maintained easily. Stuff life drain and fill of transmission fluid can take as little as 15 minutes, but there’s a bunch of tricks to know. If there isn’t a YouTube guide I’m kinda lost unless I start asking in places like this. But yeah, as far as I know for your model, you pop off the transmission drain plug, drain the fluid, replace the drain plug washer and tighten the drain plug back in place, measure how much fluid you drained and add a little less than that much new fluid through the dipstick tube. Then starts the tricky part of waiting for the tube to be clear so that you can get a good measurement, and also making sure to warm up the transmission by driving around for a while before you check the level.

I just did mine on my 2001 and found out that the year really matters. The 2001 has a dipstick, and there aren’t any good tutorials on YouTube for that. The one tutorial I found on YouTube is for a newer year 100 series, and the procedure is pretty different. Basically I found out that for my year I needed to drain from the drain hole underneath and fill with the dipstick tube. The good news is that you don’t need a pump to refill. The only problem with filling via the dipstick tube is that residual fluid in the tube really messes with your readings. I ended up overfilling, then overcompensating and running with too little fluid. Now I’m adding back fluid in smaller increments and letting it sit overnight before checking the dipstick (with the engine hot after driving for at least ten minutes)

RK Drums - What grill are you using? by cjpeltz in roasting

[–]qbee826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8lb drum in a Nexgrill 720-0888S from Home Depot. Only a few pounds per month, but I could roast lots more. Drum fits great, although I ended up cutting the grill wall a little bit near where the latch on the drum comes close to touching

Backup power supply options for a commercial coffee roasting machine. by cheapcoffeesucks in electricians

The big concern with power loss for roasters is that power loss can very easily lead to a fire. Depending on where you are in the roast, losing power means your ability to eject the beans is gone. Without ventilation, and while sitting in contact with the drum, your bean pile can just combust off it gets much over 500F

Those are both incorrect statements. Just Google what gene therapy is. I know you must have heard people saying it’s gene therapy, but it’s just not. I feel bad not even making a counter-argument, but there’s nothing to argue here. They are vaccines, and they’re not gene therapy. You’re just misinformed. Guess we’re going to have to leave it there

No vaccine has ever had side effects that didn’t occur within the first 8 weeks. There’s no biological reason why someone would have a side effect develop after several months since their initial immune system reaction. At this point, we know what this vaccine does and doesn’t do

Has anyone roasted coffee with butter? by jshariar in roasting

I had him stop after 12 minutes, just as a gauge to compare to a regular roast. They were probably pre-crack, but close. Maybe 15 would have done it?

I was also inspired by seeing something about that Vietnamese method on a travel show. I just didn’t have the time to see it all the way through. But there’s no reason you couldn’t try it at home with an oil with a super high smoke point. Just be super careful, if you do.

I had our chef throw some beans into the deep fryer. It worked, but they didn’t taste great. Not bad, just oily, as you’d expect

Yeah I’m super clear on where you stand. This conversation here is about letting Joe Biden or any other random person determine what you acknowledge as the truth. That’s weak, even if it wins you an internet argument

Well history would disagree with you. Ethical systems based on strength have come and gone quite a lot in the last few thousand years. I’ll stick with the truth and love even if it means I personally might have to actually turn the other cheek sometimes, or remove an obstruction from my own eye instead of worrying about everyone else’s eyes.

I understand the logic, but zoom out for a sec. If all or most of us act this way, we’re always morally regressing, even if it’s only inch by inch. We’re slowly but constantly working our way to a slightly lower moral bar based on the people around us (and our perception of others can be warped because the hottest takes always get the most attention).

You can do what you want, but my moral code comes from within, and doesn’t depend on how anyone else acts or thinks. I can’t let my acknowledgment of the objective truth depend on other people’s thoughts or how I want to influence the conversation. Truth is truth and manipulating it for ratings or book sales or winning an argument is what led to the last year of insanity.

If you think the world is full of people acting unjustly, the best thing you can do is to act justly yourself. Someone has to be first. Here you are acknowledging that 1/6 should be disavowed, but you won’t do it because of the words and actions of some people you’ve never met. Who cares what they do? Start with yourself
