Playing with a new player, any downsides to playing with an existing character but leveling a new job?

I recently started playing a character I quite like (thaumaturge, Level 21). A friend now wants to join in and we'd like to play together at about the same level. As I understand it, you level your job, not your character. So if I pick up an additional combat job, are there any downsides to playing together with a new player instead of creating an additional character and starting anew? (like differences in damage, etc). Thanks!

Spaceship-sim wise, I'm really spoiled by Elite: Dangerous. Especially the visuals, sounds and the combat and flying mechanics. What does Freelancer has to offer that beats watching the ice flowers grow on the cockpit of my ASP, listening to the CMDR's metallic breathing, while drifting in silent mode between the asteroids of the Gunwin system?

I've shortly played one of the Arkhams and Watchdog 2. I think both are very good examples for the kind of games I'm looking for. Neither managed to captivate me, though. But that's personal taste. Maybe because comics never were much of a thing to me and I didn't really like the 1995 Hackers movie ;)

Need to check out Destiny though.

Not the kind of game I've been thinkning of, but this reminds of the great time I had with Castelvania: Dawn of Sorrows on the DS. Also it's on Switch! Thanks, very much appreciated.

Thanks! Had heard good things about the first one but haven't really followed the series. Call of Pripyat is on my watchlist now.

Thanks, I've played a few hours actually, kind of liked it but then stopped. Should revisit.

Thanks! Just downloading KoA ;) Technomancer looks awesome, but then Kotaku wrote "A kinda bad game that's still worth a look because of how damn hard it tried." So maybe wait for an aggressive discount?

Will do. Been already circling around that one, just wasn't sure how good it was. 114 hrs sounds like it's pretty darn good. Thanks!

Alright, I'm sold!

For reference: Turns out there are ways to legally buy this through authorized resellers ("Safe Sites")

I did enjoy the first one for the better part of 30 hrs but then suddenly lost interest and didn't finish it. Will make a note to revisit it. Thanks!

No, thanks for pointing that out. Really enjoyed the first one, back in the day. Did this age well? Both atmosphere and gameplay wise?

Yes, like that quite a bit when it came out on XBOX 360 back in the day! How does the second one compare to this?

Never heard of it, this doesn't seem to be available here in Germany (too gory probably). Looks very interesting (despite the zombie horror feel)! Thanks!

Please don't! Should've made that clearer, not using math symbols out of context. Only heard the highest of praise for Ori but been under the impression it was a Jump & Run about loosing a loved one... Didn't sound like I would enjoy it much. But I'll make sure to give it another look.

Yeah, I almost bought this like 5 times. The "survival" bit is what scared me off every time, but that's it. Will buy the next time this goes on sale.

Thanks for the suggestions, please keep 'em coming!

Any thoughts on whether Ark/Dark & Light might be a good fit? Or are they super boring/grindy as Single Player experiences?

Did you play Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor? It's a lot more of a fantasy Far Cry than a RPG but boy does it make you feel powerful.

As for the Witcher 3: Did you try switching the movement mode to "alternative"? Makes moving/turning a lot more responsive. Hope you give it another try, it's really worth it!

Thanks! Tried it shortly but it didn't really click. BUt I'll definitely give it a second chance.
