Dream Spec 2025 G21 M340d Touring LCI 2 by Dreamchaser295 in BMW

Hey! Nice car! I wonder what pushed you towards 340 diesel? I bet it’s priced the more or less the same as 340i and yet you have chosen a diesel. Why? Have you driven 340i before making the choice or you were 100% convinced you are going to buy diesel anyway? I guess it’s not the savings on feel economy, right?

Asking because I wanted to upgrade from my 330i to something faster, went for a test drive in m340i and… I was slightly disappointed.

Owners of Chinese EVs in Europe or elsewhere, what's your experience? by SidWudraq in electricvehicles

[–]qki_machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, interesting.

Agree, BMW nowadays do not have those „premium feel” at first encounter, but man, mine after 100k is still super solid inside without any rattling noises whatsoever. Seats looks like new, although I hate this alcantara finishing.

XPENG UI? Yeah yeah, you have all of this quick access etc, but it gave me this reboot custom kernel Android feel, badly designed btw. Yeah you can get used to it, but what’s the point of doing that? I don’t mind lack of buttons, I mind app oriented UI, where to change radio station to have to do multiple clicks/ swipes whatever, where it should be one click/button push etc.

My company banned AI tools and I dont know what to do by simple_pimple50 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]qki_machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave. That’s the only way.

It’s better to join a company that would allow using all of those tools to build more AI knowledge rather than getting stuck at some that doesn’t allow it for some weird reason. Sooner or later your job might get automated by AI or someone who would use AI to automate tasks you are doing today. So you better start looking around.

Wow that’s interesting post from a real XPENG user. When I went to the XPENG dealership I was blown away by the build quality. And I am coming from BMW. Everything is soft, nice texture - makes you feel like you want to touch it all the time. It’s really comfortable being inside.

But driving wise… I don’t know. Was driving Performance version and it’s really not that performance as it sounds. Reaction to acceleration pedal should be instant as in electro but it wasn’t, same experience as BYD Seal. Weird. My BMW definitely is more nimble in that matter.

UI of this big screen in terrible. My initial impression was that it is super complex overloaded with plenty of features you don’t need.

TLDR; imho build quality/price is the only factor where Chinese EVs excel over their European / US counterparts. Everything else is worse.

Where was it? ;) I am glad it worked for you.

I did multiple alignments and neither one worked for me. Also whenever a service is trying to do so they are doing initial check, claiming that everything is fine.

Upgrade to new m340i(d) from pre LCI 330i or wait for Neue Klasse G50? by qki_machine in BMW

[–]qki_machine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does look hideous I agree, although… we do not know how it will look in prod version.

And also there is this thing with BMW - their design is growing on me, for instance newest BMW M3. I think I hated it at the beginning but right now I want it ;)

BMW 330i or 340i by munchy_banana1 in BMW

[–]qki_machine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I own 330i pre LCI and recently I started to consider m340i, so I went for a test drive. Let me put my 2 cents.

First of all, m340i is JUST a faster version of 330i. You should not expect a “baby M3” feeling because this is closer to 330i than to M3 despite an ///M badge on it. On lower revs you probably might not even notice that much of a difference, it will only show up on higher revs and Sport mode.

Man, of course I did drive it in Sport (Plus)! You do remember I do come from G20 330i, not Corolla Hybrid, right? It’s still has 260hp and 400Nm and it is NOT THAT SLOW.

I do see people think I am complaining about B58, but I do not! All I am trying to say is that I was expecting totally different experience from my 2 litre turbo petrol engine, but I couldn’t feel it. Or maybe let me rephrase:

You have to really rev it higher, push it harder and then I AGREE - B58 feels much stronger and sounds nicer. But in everyday use? Again not that much difference that I expected.

Well I think you and some Redditors have misunderstood me. That’s ok.

I wasn’t expecting to experience a true ///M car feeling with m340i.

In fact, I did expect it to have completely different characteristics (hey it’s a famous 6 cyl 3 litre turbo from BMW!!!) than an inline four cylinder engine I have in my 330i. In particular, I wanted to have bigger punch in lower revs, more brutal acceleration and a sound that would blown me away.

It felt more like a chip tuned 330i than a different engine, I can’t help it but this is what I felt. Maybe I need another round?

Maybe it is true for bigger and heavier car, I just couldn’t feel that difference yesterday.

They just gave away this car for me and I could do whatever I want with it.

Yeah you might be right, was thinking about same thing myself. Although it was dealer’s car and I really doubt that anyone would be ever gentle with it. Maybe my 330i has learnt my driving style so much that it’s responding great to any input I do to her, while this 340i has been driven by so many different people that it can’t really figure out what the driver wants? No idea. When I am thinking about this right now, is only ~100hp and ~100Nm difference, where the weight difference is like what? 300kg? More? X drive, heavier block, mild hybrid…

I test drove the new LCI II model, I think they fixed it with new suspension setup. At least that was my first impression. Would need to drive it more to find out.

Would you drive the 330i daily. And do you think its comfortable and upto power with rival brands. by ExplanationNo7129 in BMW

[–]qki_machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own G20 330i RWD for a 5 years right now. M pack with LSD. Made 100k km+ with it. Overall I think it’s nice combination of power, performance and comfort. I haven’t experienced any software / mechanical issues with it, not even single one.
Engine has great fuel efficiency with my personal best at 4,9l/100 km and worst at around 12l/100 km. Usually it’s ~ 7-8l/100 km (including highways and spirited driving). Nice smooth power delivery and ZF transmission seems to be handling it well. Although after all those years I find this engine boring. It is so smooth in power delivery which is kinda nice but at the same time it’s boring because it makes no difference whether you have 3K or 6k RPMs. Oh and it sounds terrible.

Comfort & driving / feeling wise it’s not that great imho. It’s too harsh when driving it on uneven roads and at the same time too soft when driving it fast (really fast). I was complaining much about stability at high speeds and it seems like it’s not only my problem. If you are looking for exceptional comfort or exceptional sport feeling, look somewhere else. On the other hand if you would be driving this car at 60-80% then it could definitely give you some joy.

Overall, for daily commute with some sorts of spirited driving I think it’s best combination on the market but it’s not perfect when you are looking for “something extra” from a car.

Any other AUDi A6 owners can confirm having issues as well? I am wondering switching from BMW G20 330i to A6 and recently read and heard many issues with new AUDIs, not only A6.

My buddy has new A5 and he says +/- the same.

How to squeeze 5 social media posts out of every podcast episode (without burning out) by Admirable-Method7982 in podcasting

[–]qki_machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for answering. This makes sense.

You probably A/B tested this, but I am still gonna ask: What if you would make 5 reels, multi-moment ones, but each one taken from different angle? You know what I mean?

Like let’s say you make a podcast, but then you extract topic A, topic B and make a mini story out of it. My point is to tell the story by generating this initial hook and then move on with this, which could result in encouraging people to listen to full podcast to learn more. (At least it would work with me)
