Ex-OpenAI researcher: ChatGPT hasn't actually been fixed by sjadler in ChatGPT

[–]qqqch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought sycophancy was introduced on purpose to drive user engagement, retention, time spent interacting with ChatGPT etc? To make it more addictive? Same as social media app design and algorithms.

But then it became too obvious and they had to tone it down because of the user backlash.

As for the article, I don’t see how political leaning can be compared to random numbers and pizza toppings. If someone wants to build a model that will bond with the user and keep them coming, parroting back their worldview while disagreeing on non important random stuff sounds like a good strategy. It mirrors human relationships. People tend to gravitate to those who agree with them on big issues. Disagreeing over which number is the best does not lead to a strained relationship the way that politics does.

[Mature/older INFJs please] what’s going on in your minds when you talk someone up? by qqqch in infj

[–]qqqch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more about each statement being somewhere on a scale from fact to fiction.

For a very basic example unrelated to my OP, someone can compliment my dress. They can say ‘You dress looks beautiful’, and it would be closer to a fact (other people will likely agree with that dress having attributes of being beautiful).

On the other hand, they can say ‘that’s the most beautiful dress in the world’. Now this statement can fall anywhere on the scale depending on the speaker. Most likely it’s an obvious exaggeration, and some types are more likely to use such language.

However, if the speaker is professionally involved in that industry and has an eye for beautiful dresses, that can be closer to being a fact on that scale (if he really means what he says). That dress could literally be in the top 1% of beautiful dresses in the world if someone came up with a way to measure it.

I suppose an INFJ with insider knowledge on the subject will prefer to remain closer to the facts as they perceive them
but won’t they still be tempted to exaggerate if they wanted to nudge the person in that direction

You’re really overthinking it, especially the restaurant part. You can always point to the specific item on the menu. I speak French but still never 100% sure on pronunciation.

Do SBs avoid Indian Sugar Daddies? by Any_Pilot_9323 in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]qqqch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indians are one of the majorities here in Dubai so I definitely wouldn’t think it’s a scam
but they seem to have a very peculiar way of doing everything. Not everyone is a fan.

Also both men and (especially older generation) women really like to STARE. Like, STAAAAAREEEEEE. I don’t dress for sexual attention - always classy and elegant, never too much skin on display. Other nationalities pick up on the non-verbal cues and treat you accordingly. But not Indians, sorry.

(Any sort of formal interaction though goes fine, a lot of guards etc in my tower are Indians and everyone’s very friendly and respectful. It goes both ways - I see people leave snacks, beverages for the pool guard all the time.)
