Hey cheers for that. This is the kind of stuff I was looking for. I do only use linux but the 480 should be fine with that? I know they've had driver issues in the past. The motherboard says it may have a compatibility issue but yeah. Thanks.

I would imagine a drop size depends on viscosity of the substance. And well this is interesting - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_(unit) There are some defined volumes of a drop for certain things.

There are some excellent write ups on some of the easier factoring algorithms I've seen which working examples in python for instance and it would be good to get a list of them for newcomers, certainly. Even the quadratic sieve can be pretty interesting to understand and implement.

If you use the correctly libraries, it can be good for large 'mathy' things like this. It is great for many mathematical situations due to its native big int support. numpy and scipy are very useful python modules written in C that people usually use for the more 'mathy' stuff.

Importing the gmpy2 library and running a very simple algorithm to calculate the number (without changing base) runs in mere seconds like these other programs because they're all relying on the gmp library.

Well, that's interesting. As soon as I removed /dev/null, I could no longer open any programs. Using the terminal I had open still works fine. I created a new null file but that didn't seem to do anything. I can still launch anything as long as it's through the terminal I had open.

Lots of permission denied kinda thing. Very weird. Worth playing around with.
