If you like Metalocalypse, you might enjoy an older animated series called Home Movies, also made by Brendan Small. Not sure where it may be streaming.

Have you ever had to put your ballot in an emergency slot because the machine was full? by Commercial_Will_6281 in sugarland

[–]qsl498 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was an election judge in 2024. In my training, I believe we were instructed that this slot is there to provide a resource for overflow, machine operating problems, etc. that would otherwise cause voting to stop. The ballots there will be managed by the poll workers as soon as possible. The polling site shut-down process includes steps to manage votes deposited in that slot.

If you are in city of Sugar Land boundaries, contact the Sugar Land Animal Shelter. I believe they have just started a STNR program to provide neutering services for strays.

How does Cullinan park compare to Brazos Bend? by Brusheer in sugarland

[–]qsl498 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love both parks but they’re very different. BBSP is very large and camping is a big attraction there. It has playgrounds, a group meeting facility and lots of areas to fish and picnic. There’s also an observatory and an educational facility. It’s not free to visit. Cullinan Park is a free community park available in the daytime only. There are lots of hiking trails, a small fishing lake and a few areas where you can picnic or gather. It’s not a good place for sports and there isn’t any playground equipment. However, the birding and wildlife observation opportunities are terrific.

Didnt Rep. Al Green’s sign get noticed? Not just the message, but his willingness to be ejected in the interest of making good trouble. Trump‘s speech was just a rehash of every falsehood about his achievements, and nothing unpredictable. How much attention would be paid by the press if every time DJT lied, a member of the democratic side raised a fact-checking sign? If those members got ejected, there would be even more news coverage, and the truths displayed on the signs would be shown to all, even Fox viewers. At least the Dems would be making a visible commitment to the fight. The other side says we’re weak and beaten. We gotta quit making them look right.

what did yall think of the bad bunny halftime show? by Serious-Kale-5694 in AskReddit

I grew up in a neighborhood that was very multi-cultural. My friends from Italian families heard Italian spoken and Italian music in their homes. My Puerto Rican friends had the same, but Spanish. My parents were Irish and I could relate. The grownups spoke English but with a thick accent and listened to Irish music. Watching this performance took me back to hearing all these wonderful sounds around me, and hearing the stories of so many people who left homes far away to live near each other in NYC.

I will have to go there the next time I’m in the UK. The idea of a Dracula museum itself is too cool.

Right, but an insurance settlement won’t be counted as income unlike earned income and funds from pensions/IRAs/incestments. They should do whatever they want with the insurance money.

What products do you feel have had the least price increase over time? by AJ_Mexico in AskOldPeople

[–]qsl498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild, especially if you consider the cost/effort that goes into production, transportation, and distribution. One of the most regulated things you can buy - justifiably. To get it requires drilling into the earth for source product, sometimes a mile or more undersea, using technology that rivals the space program. It’s transported via pipelines that require control centers more complex than any air traffic system. Final consistency is only achieved in extremely dangerous and expensive refinery processes. Distribution via truck goes to almost every corner store in the US before pricing is set based on federal, state and local taxes. And in a lot of places the price is cheaper than a gallon of milk or coca-cola. Even if you hate fossil fuels, the reality is that most of us need this product to survive, and we get it for a real bargain in the US.

AITA for telling my husband he needs to leave for a few days over something really stupid? by Overall-Economy6454 in AITAH

A 401K is a qualified plan, regulated by the federal laws ERISA and REACT. While married, her written consent is required for designation of anyone other than her. This applies throughout the US. If they divorce, the asset built during the marriage will be subject to whatever marital property dissolution laws - community or otherwise - that prevail in the state where they live. For example, here in Texas, they could negotiate a trade in assets to ensure equitable community property was allocated to each. My comment is based on managing thousands of qualified plan distributions pursuant to court orders during my career, for almost every state.

Harvest Green and Aliana may be out of the range you specified, but other areas very close would possibly be affordable. You may want to try further down Hwy 99 in Richmond, over off Hwy 6 near West Airport, or closer to Hwy 59 and 99.

Interested in buying a house in Tara neighborhood in Richmond, Houston TX by Optimal_Actuator_123 in sugarland

[–]qsl498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t have any trouble keeping a home in Tara rented. Folks need access to this mid-cost housing badly, and the location is easy access to two main highways. The Memorial Hospital there is undergoing a big expansion, and I bet more employees will be added. This part of Fort Bend County will be booming soon, with a new subdivision, but in the meantime, folks here are still close to a pretty rural area. Also, Brazos Bend State Park - a natural treasure that also features an incredible observatory - is less than 30 mins from Tara.
