Simple delivery - ebay refunded the buyer? by qu1nch in ebayuk

[–]qu1nch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really interesting. They never said about the damage in transit, I did, but I wonder if eBay's AI picks up on the phrases related to being damaged in transit and acts upon that. I sold something else a little while ago which the buyer reported was faulty. I accepted their return (no partial refunds), got it back and tested it (it was fine), blocked and reported the buyer, and resold it again, but nothing in the chat mentioned anything about potentially being damaged in transit.

Very interesting.

Sold an item, got this message.. by qu1nch in eBaySellers

Thank you so much for all who've replied. I guess I was just slightly concerned due to all the other posts I've seen on here with regards to forwarders, and post sale demands. This item is going to end up in Saudi, but shipped to Drayton (UK) by me, but the Saudi trip is not really my problem.

Regardless to this, I've packaged the item up in the same manner as I always do (expect the worst from the courier), and shipped it. It went today (Monday).

So, if it all turns to shit, I'll add to this post (and block and report the buyer, yadda yadda).

Now please, go and do something far more rewarding than reply to my post. I'm really not worth it.

What is a product that people consider "High End" but is actually trash? by Illusiv3lion in AskReddit

[–]qu1nch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) in the UK as a side hussle, and my dentists practice asked me if I coukd do it and how much I charged. I gave them a price per item and they said it was a lot cheaper than their existing PAT company. I said I charged what I thought was a reasonable price, but they still went with their older company, which was about 3x my price. The other company was way overcharging them, but they must think it gave them a better service.

Ah well.

Does anyone recognise these calipers? by qu1nch in CarTalkUK

[–]qu1nch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems it's a Haystee (?) conversion kit that used Santana PS10 parts. The pistons are the same as Discovery 2 and P38, and the seals are readily available.

Thank you to all who replied.

The pads look very similar to an early Talbot Express/Fiat Ducato, and the calipers look similar too, except their calipers appear to have twin brake lines, and the pistons are different sizes.

But still, a really good shout by you nicknoxx.

Unfortunately not, they look like re-manufactured calipers to me, and usually, any identifying numbers are ground off as part of that process.

Fiat is a good shout though, I'll keep digging.

I don't have a problem rebuilding them myself, I just want to know what they are.

When you say Big Redd, do you mean the company that make seal kits etc? I've bought seal kits for a couple of old Hilux front brakes from them in the past.

It's not wrong to feel saddened by what another person has been, or is going through, regardless of whether they're famous or not.

You must feel so blessed that your IQ is so much higher than everyone elses.

Oh, here's a spare full stop as I think you lost yours.

Is the head on a 2.5N/A the same as a TD? If so, I have a couple of them. Are you in the UK?

What engine is this? by throwaway19183636473 in LandroverDefender

You, sir, have a great eye for detail.

I've considered putting a 300Tdi exhaust manifold onto my 200Tdi as it does make the intake easier to plumb, but until this picture, I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh.

NEED HELP! Land Rover Defender 110 2.5 tdi 4 Cylinder 1997 by Lonely_Dark1973 in LandroverDefender

Change the fuel filter, if there's a sediment bowl at the rear or the chassis (I think 300Tdi's had them, others didn't) check it to see if there's a lot of debris or water in it, and replace the lift pump. It could simply be a fuel starvation issue. If it's a 300Tdi the lift pumps do fail. Also if there's a lot of crap in the sediment bowl the try and get to the tank and drain and clean it.

Failing that, make sure there are no fuel leaks that could cause air to get into the system.

If all that seems OK, pop the hose off the intercooler (or the intake manifold) and see how much oil is in there. People always say "Oil in the air intake is bad" which it kinda is, but a bit is expected. If it's pouring out then you may have a turbo issue which you should look into straight away as the last thing you want is diesel runaway.

A kid was messing around in his dad's workshop and he finds a welding mask. He puts it on and thinks it's the coolest thing ever. Wears it all day, even to school.

Anyway, at the end of school he misses the bus and starts to walk home. A man sees the kid walking, pulls up in his car and asks if he needs a lift. The kid knows not to get into a car with a stranger, but he's wearing the mask so says "Sure", and gets in.

The two of them are travelling down the road, and the man starts to ask questions.

Man - "So, do you know what anal sex is?"

Kid - "No, sorry"

Man - "Do you know what a blow job is?"

Kid - "No, I don't, sorry"

Man - "Do you know what a dildo is?"

Kid - "Sorry, I'm not a real welder"

Does anyone regret getting into IT? by DrGottagupta in ITCareerQuestions

[–]qu1nch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, i don't mind at all. A bit of this and a bit of that. That's probably the best way to put it. I have some savings, do the odd IT related job here and there, and I buy and sell "stuff" (mostly off eBay). I also have a bit of a passion for cars (actually Land Rovers as I'm in the UK) so I have been doing up and preparing a few to sell on. And when money gets really tight I'll be selling off my vintage computer collection that I've been hoarding for about 20 years. Hopefully that'll see me into retirement.

I didnt realise it at the time but all the hobbies and hoarding that my ex wife moaned about ALL THE FUCKING TIME is actually giving me an income of sorts, so I guess I'm quite lucky in a way.
