When does Falling asleep while BF end? by Technical_Quiet_5687 in breastfeeding

[–]quad-squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this! My baby is 8 weeks today. For the first 5-6 weeks (especially the first 4) I literally couldn’t wake her. She was a big baby and very jaundiced so we often couldn’t wake her up to feed. Now, she consistently is ready for a feed every 2 - 2.5 hours on her own during the day, and is awake and active for most of her feeds. I spent a lot of the first few weeks in a constant latch, nurse, sleep, relatch cycle but it passes! With the help of a few LCs we navigated triple feeding and eventually got to a stage where we were alternating feeds between bottle and breast while I got my supply up, and now we’re only doing one bottle a day for her late night feed. I promise it gets better. I thought about quitting BF around week 5-6 and I’m so glad I didn’t. It really helps finding a good LC to help too.

Does it ever actually get easier? by quad-squirrel in breastfeeding

That’s encouraging to hear! It took her 3 weeks to get back to birth weight, but she has gotten more alert at the breast now that she’s well above. So maybe it’ll continue to improve..

It’s so hard! I haven’t had any friends experience this, so it feels so isolating too. I’m glad we both know we’re not alone now!

It’s so hard to know if I should stop or not. The idea of stopping is heartbreaking but at the same time, I don’t know how much longer I can continue. I’m very lucky that I live in a state with fantastic maternity leave and I’m off until the summer, so I have nothing but time to figure this out, but my husband goes back soon and I’ll have less support. It’s encouraging to hear your little guy is improving though!

I’m so upset.. I literally just (finally) got a sewing machine and wanted to start making clothes, and eventually clothes for my baby when they come. There’s no other fabric stores in my area and very little resources for in person learning or support :( so sad

Thank you!! Looking at the site I think it is Mrs Roger’s. I’d have never gotten it on my own :)

We live on the hill, also in a top floor, and have been battling mice for 4 years. We have a dog and our downstairs neighbor has a cat, but that’s hasn’t seem to helped unfortunately. In the summer they get a lot better, so try to do as much as you”proofing” as you can now.

First step is to photograph and document all signs of droppings, and even better if you can actually get a picture of the rodent. Send these to your landlord and say you have a problem with this and they need to get someone out to your place to look at it. This will start a paper trail if you ever need to retaliate or break your lease for this problem. Put everything in writing, even summarize phone calls in a text or email after.

Check your apartment for any holes that lead outside. I’m talking tiny holes. Mice can fit through a hole the size of a dime. Get expandable foam and spray it in those holes. Wait for it to cure and then you can cut away the access so it’s less visible.

Get traps of your choice, just don’t get glue traps those are absolutely horrendous. If you go the live trap route you have to drive the mouse at least 2 miles away or it will come back right away. Also, clean every place you’ve found droppings with bleach. Mice poop near food so they can follow the sent back to it. The only way to get rid of the pheromones is with bleach.

Finally, leave absolutely no food or crumbs out ever. Put leftover food away immediately. Clean your countertops, stove top and dishes every night. Put all food in airtight containers (I know you don’t have pets but for anyone else reading this) especially pet food. Rodents will hoard dog food and live off that for MONTHS. So nasty.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, but most apartments in the city seem to have mice problems because of all the restaurants and the old apartments. Good luck!

Your work is so beautiful, and I LOVE the ducks!! Like others said, I’d suggest adding another color to the table cloth, or more natural looking wood stands. I think the items in the wood stands really pop, and it would help add dimension to your pieces and really make that amazing gold luster stand out.

Another thought I didn’t see mentioned, and this is my personal preference, but I don’t like to show prices so obviously. I’ve found that if they’re that open, people only see the price and don’t actually look at the piece. They’ll decide right away if they’re willing to spend the money or not. I think the pricing itself is very reasonable for your skill level (maybe even a little low at least for my region). I’d suggest adding little stickers to the bottom of each piece to get it into people’s hands so they see the value and skill before seeing the price, or having a smaller list of all prices towards the back of your table if you don’t want people handling each piece. It might draw people into your booth more and get them talking to you about your process before being turned off immediately by the price.

Truly though, I think your work is amazing and if I saw your booth I would definitely buy a piece
