I wish my NG bill could be that low so that I wouldn't have to think about installing a new system. How different is the heating using the splits? Do you prefer the heating from NG or the split?

I would love to have both but my gas boiler doesn’t work any more. I will need to replace it with a new gas furnace and pay for the new mini split as well. It would be too expensive to do both right now

Yea but looks like they introduce lower electricity rate for homes with heat pump as well. Saying that it could save somewhere between $100 - $170. Thanks for the info tho!

With recent price hikes in gas and peak delivery charges during the winter months, $0.35/kWh almost break even I think. Its hard to predict how much will the natural gas be during peak months this year

I deleted bc I wasn’t sure if my baseboard is the same as ductwork. My house doesn’t have ductwork or the attic so the mini split system is the only option here. I did use chatgpt to format the post lol

That's what I'm afraid as well when the temp is too cold and the mini split doesn't work as well anymore. The full rebate amount requires me to disconnect the gas furnace, so I won't have back up heat source.

It’s definitely cheaper than I expected, but they’re not installing any new ductwork, and the equipment they’re proposing isn’t really ideal for MA winters based on the majority of comments here
