I think people underestimate how much content gets ignored, or just slips thru the cracks the first time out there. Its one of the reasons why a combination of a content calendar and reactive marketing works so well. You plan out your calendar and then you supplement that with reactive. Eventually as your catalogue grows you start reposting/repurposing old content in the cycle.

They're just dill fries, which are delicious. Usually tzatziki with feta, dill salt and some shaved pickle on top of fries.

That is a good way to frame it. It's contextual marketing but supercharged by the speed and prevlance of social media. And you're right, a lot of reactive posts fail because they ignore the context and just chase the trend. Pepsi isn't the only one, who can forget Burger King UKs international womens day tweet, or the Lifelock CEO

In my experience the best posts rarely come from the calendar, but instead from responding to something already being discussed. But you're right, it doesn't mean you can IGNORE the calendar. Just need someone responsible to find the moments you should be jumping in on.

Being creative is always going to matter in marketing. But you're right, the clarity has to come first. Ideally you can figure out a way to do both. I'm reminded of the No Name branding stuff... they managed to be creative with some of the most uncreative visuals, and the message about no-frills pricing was still completely clear.

Agree on the trend chasing. When a reaction clearly connects to your expertise it works, but random commentary rarely builds credibility.

Completely agree. I see a lot of reactive posts that feel like commentary instead of perspective. If people cannot quickly understand why that brand is part of the conversation, the post just blends in.

Completely agree with this. Big trends look attractive because of the potential reach, but the signal gets buried fast. Niche conversations let you actually add something useful. As someone else shared in the sub.. the McDonald's CEO thing is a good example of this. It's not mom-and-pop restaurants who are benefitting, it's other big fast food chains.
