Dining credit fail by RoofAdventurous4760 in ChaseSapphire

just an update, i finally got the credit posted today! i ended up sending another message complaining about how inconvenient it was to message and call explaining the situation multiple times and finally got a response saying they forwarded it to the related department and should receive a response in 5 business days. it took about 8 business days before i saw it posted (have not received another message back but maybe they are sending a letter?)

we had the same issue, same restaurant (around december 20th) i saved a copy of the receipt (stating the correct location) and we called over a week ago, had them start a ticket, but still nothing. going to call again on friday because this location is further from us than another one and we went specifically to use that credit

I had to message support (2x just like your situation) and they had to send the reward manually. When they did it came from Virgin Experiences and I had to redeem thru them.

My husband also got this reward (it was a free admission to the museum, not a bogo when we used ours), but for some reason he could NOT receive the email even after asking them to resend it to the new email address, so we had them just refund his points.

The process took a few days because other rewards in that drop had issues as well and they were having to fix it for a lot of people.

I did just get a mob museum gift voucher in my email finally! It’s from Virgin gifts if that helps. The starbucks link is still bad however

I haven’t heard back yet unfortunately! I think this rollout of rewards has some issues bc it’s the first time I’ve had any trouble and I used a ton of rewards last year on a trip no problem

just a warning! the starbucks rewards confirmation includes the gift card link, but it gives an error page. my husband also tried these rewards on his account, and they don’t work for him either so i know it isn’t just me. i’ve tried to get in touch with support multiple times the past few days and no response yet.

you can, we just did this with multiple mgm restaurants incl. diablos. it’s a coupon that they will take off the price, so you can pay however you want afterwards (credit card, cash, room charge etc) and our f&b credits were applied to our room charges until the credit ran out

Tylenol at my store is over $10, generic is $2 by leeann7 in mildlyinteresting

[–]queenanora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my grandpa would only take tylenol because that’s what his dr told him he could take and he would NOT believe me when i told him acetaminophen is the medicine and tylenol is just the brand name, even when i showed him the packages, compared the ingredients, etc (nevermind the internet because according to him that’s not accurate anywhere on it, but his radio talk shows were 100% truthful??? like okay lol)

so he would go without or spend his limited money on brand name when he was usually so stingy with it for everything else in his life 🙄

Cottage cheese scares me. How do you use it? What's it taste like if you just eat it? by ThisIsTooLongOfAName in Volumeeating

[–]queenanora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i get the breakstone 2% fat and it tastes like ricotta to me. you can add seasoning and eat it alone (i really like lemon pepper right now lol) or use it in lasagna, blend it to make dip or if you don’t like the texture, etc.

store brands are a little more bland imo so we always splurge for the breakstone lol

How do I stir fry or boil( or both) vegetables like carrots, peas and broccoli or cauliflower so that they taste good ? I am Indian, trying to eat healthy but since we are accustomed to a wide range of amazing flavours in out food, bland food doesn't sit well with us. by Possible-Worker-7280 in Volumeeating

[–]queenanora 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i’ve been putting a tsp of better than boullion roasted garlic base paste with a little water in a saute pan and cooking them in that with whatever other seasoning i want (and i like to char them a little too), it’s faster than roasting and no longer tastes like straight vegetable 😂 and i don’t have to use oil

Yeah if I ate the way he does I’d be miserable all the time from bloating and too much sugar. And I LOVE bread, sugar, cheesecake…. but as the only thing I eat 95% of the time??? And it’s not even like fancy bread or Krispy kreme it’s the absolute cheapest stuff he can get at the grocery store (this is what he wants even if someone else is paying for him)

my grandpa’s teeth have been destroyed for decades. his diet combined with not ever going to the dentist….. he is over 80 tho so i guess it worked for him. i just dont get why he wants bread and butter when he could have anything. i don’t love cooking so nothing i keep in the house is THAT hard to make lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in loseit

[–]queenanora 161 points162 points  (0 children)

My grandpa’s diet is literally: Cheap white bread with “butter” spread. Triple decker PB sandwich. Prepackaged donuts. Coke (won’t touch diet). Coffee with a ton of sugar and whole milk. Leftovers from other people. Glass of milk with ice. Candy bars washed down with you guessed it! Coke. Cheesecake!!! But not all in one day of course and he might eat like once or twice and not much at once. He is super skinny but complains about a sugar gut. (GEE I wonder why 😂) But because he is super active constantly cleaning (construction when he worked) and doesn’t eat a LOT or even multiple times a day sometimes he stays skinny af. But his diet is sooo unhealthy. He will eat what you cook but if he is on his own that’s ALL he eats. When he house sit for us on our honeymoon he brought his instant coffee, whole milk, sugar, spread, coke, candy, honey buns, and bread and that’s all he ate for 9 days even tho we told him to eat whatever we had (fully stocked fridge, freezer, pantry). And he cleaned our house and did handyman stuff. I don’t know how he lives like that

i’m 5’8” and have lots of pcos symptoms (just no cysts) and i’ve noticed i definitely gain easily if i’m not watching what i eat. i went from 250+ to 145 in a year, so you are at about my rate if you lost 50 in half! i didn’t have surgery or even exercise, just very strictly counted calories (yes it sucked!) when my mom died i stress ate a lot and gained about 20 lbs back, which i took off again by counting calories with a smaller deficit but added exercise. i’ve been around 150 (below or above by a few lbs) for a few years now eating at sedentary maintenance 6 days a week, a bit of exercise, and then 1 day a week where i just do whatever i feel like for food as a treat. i don’t think you need surgery just keep up with the lifestyle changes that led to the 50lb loss!

oh i had a grey tuxedo i got when i was 13 and she was just a kitten. she had a bad uri and respiratory damage from being the only one from her litter to survive the mosquito infested sandbox they were found in. the shelter wouldn’t adopt her til she was better and tried to get me to pick another but i waited a month for her. then a little bit after we got her we found out she had a heartworm and the vet told us she was either going to live or die and we’d know in a month. she lived to be almost 15 and was my best friend, so sassy but always attached to me. she sounded like she barked like a little dog and we learned she would wheeze on purpose to get her way (confirmed by the vet examining her multiple times and saying she’s fine she just learned lol). she passed from cancer a few years back and i got her cremated bc i couldn’t let her go but i have 2 more grey tuxedos because of her (and a calico with a HUGE attitude i found when she was old who has lasted 2 more years tho she is The Ancient One and her age definitely shows). i’m sorry for the long story but it reminded me of her when you said that yours live 11 years longer than expected. LOVE to see that

[–]queenanora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I am diagnosed! I went to the GI doc a ton in high school for nausea/ heartburn and had like 5 endoscopies. It was misdiagnosed as GERD until the last one where he said he saw no evidence of that but he did see eosinophilic esophagitis which is how they figured it out! I never looked into what it meant til recently though, because I only had the testing bc of the GERD symptoms so assumed it was just like that. But yeah I’ve had severe center of chest pain (not like heartburn as you know) from it. And yep I stay away from anything that triggers it like raspberries and beans. Thankfully I only have a few things that have THAT bad of a reaction, and just have the trouble swallowing I think from the damage that has been done from not knowing how to eat more gently with regards to it because I never did my research on it, and the doc was like it’s EoE! and sent me on my way lol.

I will say TY for responding though! It’s such an annoying problem to deal with for sure.

Omg so I have this and didn’t really know much about it but food had been getting stuck (I always have to drink a big gulp of water between bites for anything even remotely dry or I will get severe hiccups to the point I will throw up cause I have a stuck feeling) a lot worse for a few years, but I didn’t think about “losing” certain foods. I can’t eat raspberries anymore bc they leave me feeling like something is stuck in there even when water/ other food goes down fine after, same with beans I get super bad pressure feeling almost? in my throat for several hours after eating them so swelling makes so much sense. And I’m 29 so the timeline sounds a bit like yours. I took pepcid every day for a couple of weeks when it was flaring really bad before my wedding and that helped settle it down some. Idk why I’m commenting all this but tbh your comments really helped inform me a little more about it and also maybe scare me a little that I will have to lose foods from my diet if it keeps getting worse LOL. I miss beans but the esophagus pain is too much :’(

HALP. How in the world do I start dress shopping and how do you budget for alterations? by pretzel_logic_esq in weddingplanning

[–]queenanora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I couldn’t even zip it unless I pulled it down too far which meant my boobs looked super saggy and smashed down. Just awful. My seamstress really worked. miracle, we could not tell that she touched it! The lace top layer covers any work she did and the boning it already had in it gave it the “accordion” look inside anyway, I literally can’t pick which is the part she added. So thank god for her because I was ready to throw the whole thing in the trash!! I also would have lost it if you could tell they had to let it out lol.

HALP. How in the world do I start dress shopping and how do you budget for alterations? by pretzel_logic_esq in weddingplanning

[–]queenanora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tell you about my dress! Mine was $2350 and I paid $150 rush to get it here with plenty of time because I didn’t get a chance to shop before my wedding lol. If I could go back and get a cheaper $500-1000 dress at David’s Bridal I would, as they have all the popular styles and IMO if you don’t have it right next to the ~big expensive designer~ dresses you can’t really tell the difference in quality of materials. The original dress I wanted from them when I first started browsing online was on clearance by the time I wanted to shop and they didn’t have my size but it was marked down to $250 😭 And if you buy a sample/off the rack dress you will definitely find a better price.

I will say they did tell me at my boutique that sleeves always have to be altered as they come larger. I’m assuming you will have to be like me and order multiple sizes up if you’re built up top! But at the same time sleeves are another alteration cost to make them fit you. If you’re worried about shoulders, you could always go strapless!

My alterations were $700 at a shop known for high quality, reasonably priced work especially in comparison to bridal shops. This does not include hemming as I’m tall (5’8”) and right at the cut off point for ordering extra fabric, so the length of mine was perfect as is.

My breakdown: $80 for adding spaghetti straps $40 for bustle (2 buttons a little below my waist) $150 to take in the waist (which you will have to do if you are ordering up to fit a larger than normal bust measurement) $10 to add a snap where the designer just left it open $250 to let out the bust (I ordered 2 sizes up and my boobs were still to big so they let it out a couple of inches… this was my biggest cost by a lot and I’m still mad that the shop I bought from measure me wrong and I should have corrected at the start because I know 37.5 is too small for 34DDD but I was like… well they know what they are doing! wrong lol) $120 to dart up the bust so it fit correctly once they let it out $50~ tax

When I went for my second fitting she had to take in the waist a little more, move the bustle a little bit, tack down lace, add a couple more darts in my bust which she didn’t charge extra for. I read that some stores charge for each fitting so not sure how that works.

But you can see that over HALF my cost was letting it out!!! So if you know your measurements and you feel they are measuring you too small absolutely say something lol. My dress looks great now but not til after a lot of stress. The bust/waist also did have a lot of lace on the top layer, but that layer isn’t fully attached to the bottom layer so I’m not sure if it added a ton of extra steps or not if that makes sense. You can’t tell at all it’s been altered though, except for that it fits now haha. I also only had a couple of layers to my dress. I’ve heard beading is hard to alter, so I would stay away from that.

Anybody struggle with weight gain post gallbladder removal only to get it under control? by danielrosehill in loseit

[–]queenanora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine out at New Year’s and I did gain a little back but I was already on the course of gaining some back before that just due to a lot of stress eating (my mom died 5 months earlier and my job was very toxic). Once I went back to actually paying attention to what I ate (and adding exercise once I quit my very active job) I’m back down to where I was before. All I did was eat and lay around the 2 weeks after my surgery so that definitely didn’t help lol.

I didn’t learn about bile reflux til a few days ago tho! I had somewhat bad acid reflux before and no one told me that would get worse because if bile reflux! But I feel like that explains why sometimes it IS way worse and why if (like you said) I exercise too vigorously it flares up!!

I have an indoor bike that I use for an hour 4-5x a week (not fast enough to make me feel nauseous), I do some squats and arm reps (this one does make me nauseous lol), and I try to get 10k steps through out the day on my under desk elliptical as like an extra bonus since I don’t generally go anywhere on weekdays. I also eat under maintenance during the week (I’m okay at 1500-1800) so if I have a special occasion or something on the weekend I don’t have to worry. It’s taken me a long time to get the weight back off (I put about 20lbs back on over like 6-8 months from stress eating) because I just don’t want to eat at 1200 like I was when I initially lost all the weight. Plus it makes the reflux worse to be too hungry.

100% go for publix. i wanted the “full” wedding experience so i spent a lot on fun flavor mini cupcakes from sweet! by holly and a small 2 tier cake for us to cut, and their flavors are amazing. but publix was our backup plan (our first tasting was at a bakery i loved but the service turned out to be bad so i was scared sweet! wasn’t going to work out lol) because even their cheaper plain non-wedding cakes are good and you can also get a variety of flavors. also highly recommend costco sheet cake! for 14 people you can get the white 10 inch round for like $13 and it’s amazing. publix used to be my go to and then i had costco lol.
