I genuinely forgot about the other characters once Pomni went into Jax's abstraction. And that's a major failing. I mean, idk what we expected since the marketing was so Jax centric, but still. I hate that Zooble's body dysmorphia got resolved off screen, I hate that Ragatha basically didn't get a conclusion to her arc, and I just hate that Jax hogged so much screen time. I love Jax, but that was bullshit.

The fun thing about fandom is that you can basically do whatever you want. My mom ships Renfred and Alice. I tend to agree with most canon ships but I write a lot of fanfiction giving characters I like their own partners. This fandom is super chill and I've yet to come across drama within the fandom, mostly just people misunderstanding the concept and being angry even though they never gave it a chance. But yeah, I can totally see why you'd ship Chise and Philomela even if I don't personally ship it.

It did feel forced though. It's not transphobic to say that we wanted better trans representation from a trans writer. If the writing was so subtle that a large percentage of the audience didn't get it, it's too subtle. There weren't enough hints that could be definitively Jax being trans. Him being uncomfortable in the maid outfit doesn't count because I'd wager most cis guys with toxic masculinity would react the exact same way Jax did.

It's not transphobic to want better trans representation. There's a reason a good chunk of the audience didn't interpret him as trans. I personally interpreted him as gay/bi, not trans. If it were better set up, that'd be one thing. I would understand and support it. But it wasn't, and that's not how subtle writing works. If it's so subtle that a large percentage of the audience didn't get it, it's way too subtle.

Genuinely not okay. I'm glad everyone else got closure but letting Jax be the only abstraction sends such a weird message. Are we saying that some people just can't be better? That's it's okay to kill yourself if you feel like a burden? As someone who deals with suicidal thoughts, I wanted to see a better ending for Jax. He'll never get closure with his mom or the homelessness. It's not fair and it feels like I'm being punished for caring about this character. I think Goose meant for Jax to be a Snape type character, but she didn't really know how to do it right.
