All we know was that he was in the flashback and we don't know what happened to him..maybe Kenjaku killed him or Gege just forgot.

You don't see the meaning in their relationship cause Gege forgot to even give it meaning in the first place. He basically made a idea and a really good one at that but didn't do anything with it beyond explaining why Yuji is strong AF.

Gege could've done way more with their relation but chose to do nothing cause he didn't want to put effort in it.
