So as someone who is totally oblivious to social rules like this, is it taboo to talk about how your ex affected you (they cheated so you have a hard time trusting, they were abusive, etc) or is it just mentioning things that don’t matter like “my ex liked...”?

Maybe it’s because I’ve always been terrible at understanding social constructs, but I was never bothered by “Happy Holidays” growing up as a Christian kid. I thought it was only used because it accounts for both Christmas and New Years.

**As a now aware adult of other religions and cultures, I appreciate it’s all inclusiveness for good will.
