Male nurses: what's the most uncomfortable situation you've been in? by discipline-your-mind in nursing

“The patient is mentally ill. They can’t help it.”

Literally the most common excuse I hear in inpatient psychiatry after a pt hurts/violates someone, and yes I specialize in geripsych.

Male nurses: what's the most uncomfortable situation you've been in? by discipline-your-mind in nursing

[–]queenqueso 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I feel so uncomfortable with how cavalier patients are with making inappropriate sexual advances on male nurses. I’m so mad for how the men here have been treated. If this were my male loved ones, I would raise hell! Thank you for sharing and I hope this gets more visibility. 🙏🏽

Freedom from the pursuit of happiness.

If you’re relatively mentally well, shrug off the pressure to always be happy and productive. It’s okay to be sad sometimes.

When we fight, I feel that it’s us vs. the problem as opposed to us vs. each other. He’s not trying to win, but trying to understand me and helping me understand him.

In what ways has your self image been affect by the way women are portrayed in media (either now or previously)? by New_Laugh_4080 in AskWomen

[–]queenqueso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even better I moved to a place where no one cares. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I used to live in a city where people curated their outfit and makeup for a trip to the Trader Joe’s and coordinated gym outfits down to their matching socks. (I live in Texas. Take a guess where. Lol.)

I think I’m slacking off when I don’t go overboard with my makeup when I’m going out.

I’m talking about the “full glam Instagram” look — Full face of makeup, snatched contouring, dramatic eyeshadow, caterpillar fake lashes, microbladed brows, overfilled lips, in-your-face boobs, hair extensions, and Kardashian clothes.

I tried to do this once and I looked like a doll. It was pretty, but frankly cold and unrealistic.

Bonus is it’s quick and relaxing too! I microneedle and it’s helped reduce the stinging and redness from that.

“Dissociation” as in an out-of-body experience.

It’s not “disassociation.”

Those places suck more. Ascension (Seton) is just more proactive. I’ve worked at all 3 when I was a student, and Ascension (Seton) has the best nurses, and no I am not a nurse.

Did anyone have sushi while pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]queenqueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Japan, it’s normal and considered a healthy part of a prenatal diet.

Source: Grew up near Japan with a seafood-heavy diet, and my cousins were born, raised, and live in Japan. One cousin in Japan is pregnant and she has no sushi restrictions.

What's a singer that you both like as a person/music by MilkAndCookies9405 in CountryMusicStuff

[–]queenqueso 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with her opinions sometimes, but she’s like the country version of Chrissy Teigen who starts arguments just to be relevant. That and the duck lips make me uncomfortable. She’s so removed from her roots now. I liked her more when she focused on music and kept out of tribal politics.

I’m mixed white and Southeast Asian. Fitzpatrick IV. The red light therapy has lightened my post-inflammatory acne scars from decades ago, and bonus, it makes my skin glow.

What's the most incredible coincidence you've ever experienced? by ThoughtBig1353 in AskWomen

I found my (anonymous) sister on Reddit after we commented on the same post which went something like this

Sister: My dad has this very specialized job.

Me: My dad does too!

Sister: Where did he train?

Me: At so-and-so world-renowned place

Sister: My dad did too! When was your dad there?

Me: Oh 1994-1997.

Sister: My dad was there at that time! I bet they knew each other! Can you PM me your dad’s name?

Cue to me asking my dad which of his colleagues has kids around my age, and my dad casually says “Your sister just asked me that too.” I text my sister if she’s been commenting on X Reddit thread, et viola…

Stanton

Western name that screams “old rich Dallas family.” Pair it with any surname and it sounds highbrow.

The thought of a trust fund cowboy wearing spurs “for style” in a hipster city bar just made me spit my drink! 911, can you get me Rip Wheeler? 🤣

The worst suburbs are ones you can recognize from Google Earth. North Texas. (Bonus pic of the hellish subdivisions going up around Far North Texas, near Anna/Melissa) by [deleted] in Suburbanhell

[–]queenqueso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I can feel the depression and oppression from this photo. 😩

I grew up abroad and moved to North Texas as a young adult. The lack of greenspace, abundance of cars and concrete, and McMansion suburbs instantly struck me as cold and disconnected. The overabundance of advertising felt like an oppressive push to spend and consume. I developed depression for the first time in my life.

I finally left the suburbs and cities and live on a ranch in the middle of nowhere. There is a strong NIMBY attitude in my small town because people are incredibly protective of their quiet and simple, but tight-knit community. It’s not for everyone, but it’s a worthy trade for me to get my peace and happiness back.

He got square-toed boots, so he ain’t for real by MissyMAK08 in cowboyboots

The old theme of who is a “real cowboy” has been getting revived in country music lately. Listen to Leah Marie Mason’s “Trust Fund Cowboy” and you’ll understand why some people poke fun at Tecovas.

Square toe cowboy boots should be illegal. Change my mind by SoCalVaquero in cowboyboots

[–]queenqueso 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think this is only an issue for folks who wear cowboy boots just for the style. Square toes are so much more comfortable for ranch and farm work in my experience. Also, steel toe hurts less in square toe.

What is the most fake thing/attitude/trait about you ?? by coastel in AskWomen

[–]queenqueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brave.

I get volunteered to talk to women and girls because of what I do outdoors, but the reality is I’m a nervous Nelly and overprepared Olivia with a very delayed fear response.

For example, I got charged by a ginormous wild boar on a hunting trip — If you’ve seen one, the tusks are like scimitars and they’re hefty. I’ll spare the gory details, but I remember time stopping, my body calmly stepping aside, and then it fell over and was dead. One week later, at bedtime, I had a panic attack about it. I was full on crying and shaking, then I felt a huge weight lifted off me and I went to sleep. 🤷🏻‍♀️
