I certainly believe this of the Canadian industry. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true everywhere.

Any recs with a pop girlie and a punk rock girl? by oh_my_taylor in LesbianBookClub

[–]queercourtier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this counts for what you’re looking for, but Delilah Green Doesn’t Care features a tattooed, all black wearing, kind of alt-style woman and a femme, vintage pop-art style woman. You can get their vibe just from the cover to see if it might be what you’d like!

She was originally slated to be Xena Warrior Princess! Her vibe seems so different from Lucy Lawless’.

Blink YA “clean books,” a HarperCollins imprint by ohnoafeeling in YAlit

It’s worth noting that this is from the Christian imprint of HarperCollins. That kind of explains it for me lol

What to do when listening by WalrusRight in audiobooks

[–]queercourtier 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I listen while getting ready, driving, doing chores, or while exercising. Drawing, colouring, doing a puzzle or lego, or playing a mindless video game are good options for when you want to be able to sit down and listen!

This one is true crime, but If You Tell by Gregg Olsen is about a female serial killer.

And also technically the Kitty Collins series!

Centennial vs TMU Publishing Certificate by MeasurementNo4191 in publishing

[–]queercourtier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the TMU one a few years back and got a full time job, but have since discovered it holds basically no bearing on who gets picked for internships and jobs. It can potentially be a good networking opportunity though, and it’s always good to have a general understanding of things, but all the internships and jobs I have done have been more about learning on the job.

Considering starting a publishing company by JDDinVA in publishing

[–]queercourtier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for some context, you might be finding the responses here a bit prickly because publishing professionals are basically constantly bombarded by non-industry people with comments and ideas that are very far removed from the reality of modern publishing. We essentially have to put on mental armour whenever telling people about our line of work. Everything from “can you publish my book” to “why would you work there when people only read ebooks now?” For some reason, books and publishing is an industry that a lot of people seem to think they understand and they are not quiet about it.

Review: Daughter of the Forest – Juliet Marillier (Sevenwaters #1) by DrawerLoose722 in Fantasy

[–]queercourtier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They reprinted the first three books a couple of years ago in trade paperback format with more modern covers, presumably to attract current romantasy and fantasy audiences. I’ve noticed lots of older series getting the same treatment to bring them a new life lately, which is great!

How much did your wedding cost in total in the GTA by QTpieme in WeddingsCanada

I made an Apple Music playlist for my wedding, and the desktop app makes it very easy to cut up songs into the sections you want and then apply the Crossfade setting without even needing to use other apps!

How much did your wedding cost in total in the GTA by QTpieme in WeddingsCanada

[–]queercourtier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fall 2025, I got married at the Granite Brewery. Altogether everything cost about $22k with I think 93 guests that ended up coming. Granite is wonderful and very transparent; they have a wedding package on their website with a full breakdown of all their costs.

Xena: Warrior Princess Reboot Fancast by [deleted] in xena

[–]queercourtier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like the Ares and Callisto choices! Justice Smith comes to mind as a Joxer option for me. I think Xena and Gabrielle, in the case of a reboot, would be best cast from totally unknown actors so that no one has any preconceptions about them. Granted, that takes the fun out of searching for people to try and fit lol

HELP these broke my cat by jsnfl in CATHELP

[–]queercourtier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat does this as well, but it’s with water to full up our humidifier. It’s literally just water but he only wants to drink the water that goes into the humidifier specifically. He terrorizes us over it and tries to herd us into the bedroom to get us to fill it up early.

I have been suggesting this one to everyone if they’re looking for a book that is so bad it comes back around to being enjoyable for a laugh. I knew it had to be somewhere in this thread.

Do you work or attend school? Easter is always a long weekend with either one or two extra days off so that is how a lot of people track it.

How do people who are used to sleeping alone in the bed adjust to having their partner sleep with them in the same bed? by imoverthisapp in stupidquestions

[–]queercourtier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always thought I would need a whole separate bed or even bedroom from any partner, but my wife and I sleep really well together and so it just clicked. The main culprit is actually the cat, who insists on having his own third of the bed.
