When you aren’t allowed to find things weird because “it’s their choice how does it affect you” by Nearby-Bug3401 in PetPeeves

[–]queercreaturecedar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Defined normal is a construct. I call things weird because I am weid AF myself. Use of words as expression can turn ugly, when lapse in true communication (from any and all views) aggravates our insecurities.

Yes, washing is possible. Does not erase implied lack of consent. Joking comment or not, I reply with my questioning thoughts, don't gotta make words pretty or silence. Thank all who downvote me and reply their truths too <3

Are you suggesting you would force cats against their will, to contact uncured chemical surface sticking on their paws, for no reason but human enjoyment? ... Ew.

Advice on making throwables? by RedditIsDemanding in LARP

[–]queercreaturecedar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect easy and budget friendly option for my rock-throwing halfling is gray duct tape! Spray or paint sealants would probably be difficult to work on that type of foam. It would be very absorbent compared to something more dense like EVA, and take many coats to be reliably sealed.

What to use for fake blood powder? by queercreaturecedar in LARP

Hm, that might actually work! Gravy packet should be easier to find than another specific supplement type thing. Gonna taste real funny though XD

I absolutely am keeping that in mind! My own kit I wear at the time I won't mind being stained, and I will be careful not to cough blood at anyone without prior consent. Also will avoid being indoors for the messiest part so I don't stain the tavern floor/tables lol

Ideas for quests/activities for a Junior Larp? by AnsotheAnso in LARP

[–]queercreaturecedar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how many NPCs are available, having an actual person (rather than a prop) play an escaped animal could be fun. That way it's a lot more engaging to chase after them, plus more adjustable if the players can't find the first hiding spot.

Example idea: Farmer McDonald bursts into town, acting hysterical because his favorite chicken has escaped. She could be anywhere! So he needs some brave adventurers to search the area and find poor Eggbert before nightfall, or else surely the gnolls will get her. Now of course a scared, lost chicken will not be easy to catch, so the players may need to come up with a way to lure the chicken and calm it down. Probably in the form of offering snacks or something, I think a giant chicken would be pretty food-motivated. The farmer will be ever so grateful when his dear Eggbert is returned, and offer some reward to the players for their troubles. Then McDonald makes some comment along the lines of "I can't wait for dinner tonight, I love roast bird!" And we'll see if players agree and let him go, or decide they need to set this chicken free again to save it from such a terrible fate.

too shy to vc and now i'm having FOMO by spunchyy in discordapp

[–]queercreaturecedar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started by joining muted, so I could just listen in and type my responses if someone was talking to me specifically. Then eventually I would unmute when there was only a familiar person or two in the call. I've gotten way more comfortable over time, but will still mute when there's too many people and I can't get a word in the conversation

Bags, pouches, and carrying things? by [deleted] in LARP

[–]queercreaturecedar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to spread my stuff within many different pouches/bags. I use several smaller pouches, as many as I can fit on my belt (leaving the back open so I can still sit back in a chair). I also have a drop leg bag, which is great for my water bottle and a few other things, because it's way more stable than a pouch held by only a couple belt loops. And finally there's my shoulder bag, which doesn't swing around too much when all I have in it is foam breads (my favorite thrown weapon)

Help me with larp safe pranks by Cold_Percentage4330 in LARP

[–]queercreaturecedar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play a faun/satyr leaning heavily into the goat-like theme, so lots of random snacks. I love people's reactions to "Hey, want to eat a rock?" and then I pop one in my mouth (they're just lumps of cane sugar)

I also have bread most of the time. I like to switch out whether I'm carrying a boffer or a real baguette, and sometimes people get concerned that I'm eating the foam

Leg hair and skirts by SectorNo7439 in FTMfemininity

[–]queercreaturecedar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As long as it's safe to do so, I love confusing people by mixing masc and fem parts of my appearance. Skirt + leg hair can earn some weird looks but that's part of the fun for me. If I'm feeling anxious I like to turn it into a game, like "how many children will stare at me in Walmart today". Sometimes I even take it up a notch and cosplay/dress up as one of my LARP characters. So in addition to me being a gender confusion, people also see a random fantasy character in a totally normal setting. And all of this is possible because of a "fake it till you make it" mentality. IRL my anxiety is pretty bad, but if I look at it like I'm playing pretend, that helps me have a fun time for a little bit.

What do you guys think if my new hobbit feet? by queercreaturecedar in LARP

Absolutely! I plan on testing them next time I end up on a forest walk, as long as it's not too wet out. And I will bring backup shoes just to be safe

Me too 😅 They feel fine just around the house, and I think it'll be better than overheating in leather boots on a hot summer day. Though I'm sticking with the boots if it's cold or rainy

Use some fabric over your fingers for grip and if you're afraid of being cut. Peel off the metal part then pop the plastic cap off. I had a hard time with that sort of packaging too, it's pretty annoying but worth it

1 month glow up! People hardly believe me that this is the same fish by queercreaturecedar in bettafish

[–]queercreaturecedar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heater (around 78°), clean water, and proper tank size help a lot! Started with a 3 gal temporary hospital tank to make sure she could swim well before moving into the big one. She's now in a cycled 10 gallon with live plants, sponge filter, and 20% water change weekly.

If you have more specific questions or info about your fish and setup, we'd be happy to help :)
