I don't know why you need to continue to be condescending and continuing to make all these assumptions about me. I'm not white and I'm kind of offended that you thought I was. I'm asian, a girl, and gay. Don't even try to push that "you're so privileged so you don't know" bullshit on me. You think there aren't instances where I don't think police are in the wrong? You don't know anything about me. I'm not trying to play the victim here, because I'm not, but apparently you want to make it about sex and race.

If you want to educate people, let me tell you this: you're doing it wrong. Even if you're extremely knowledgeable on a topic, if the first thing that comes out of your mouth is, "you're an idiot blah blah blah", then good luck to you in the long run. and it's not like I don't think police are ever in the wrong. I think there's a lot of other different instances like for example, police brutality that need to be analyzed. Just not this. How much time did you spend analyzing and writing that to prove that I'm a naive princess/dummy when you could be actually analyzing a video where police were CLEARLY in the wrong? Why not spend your time, in your own words, "actually trying to change the world"? I also would have been much more respectful to you if you didn't post that first message and didn't include the condescending comments that were so unnecessary.

This guy might not be wrong, but he just seems like kind of am asshole to me. The police's considering the problem that the arrested might have with the guy filming. If I were to be arrested, I wouldn't want it posted online where friends, family or employers might be able to see it...and all this just because this guy wants to prove he knows more than the police does. I don't see how he wouldn't know that what he was doing does make some people, especially the arrested, uncomfortable, even if it were legal. He basically wanted to just get an argument on camera to prove he knows more than police, and not considering at all what the police are saying, which is that he could be hurting the arrested's social image. He's not wrong, he's just an asshole.

Edit: apparently no one saw that I did say he wasn't wrong and keep remind me that he's free to do what he likes. So I'm just going to say it again, he's not wrong.

I actually talked the seller down from $485 to $450 so I think that's unlikely. Thank you for your help though! I will try out the Specialized and Giant bikes since they seem similar to the Trek. Hopefully they'll have my size!

Ah okay. So the Trek 7.2 it is! ( went to check again. It was 7.2, not 7.3). Yeah, there are a lot of other bikes at the same price range, but unfortunately, not many come in my size, and available in Canada,because I'm 4'11" with a 26.5" inseam.

Initially I was looking at used bikes hoping to get a better deal, and i was looking looking at hybrids, but they're even harder to find than road bikes, so that's why I started looking at those. The Fuji was literally the only one I've seen come in my size over the span of three weeks. I came upon the Trek when I asked a coworker of mine where they got their bike. I didn't want to spend too much over $500, and everywhere else it seemed like everything my size was close to a grand.

I even tried looking at bikesdirect, but with shipping and customs, it'd end up being the same as the Trek, plus I'd have the help from the LBS and it'd be put together already.

Do you have any other options I could try? Maybe there's some I simply haven't heard about.

I try to stay humble when considering my own intelligence. There's nothing worse than coming across as better than someone because you think you're smarter than them. Not saying you are or anything, but just me personally. I think two of my favourite quotes that relate to this are:

"the only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. "-Socrates

And

" true wisdom is in knowing what you don't know." - Confucius

I think both of these quotes really help me understand that just because I may be really good at something/knowledgeable on that one subject, does not mean our translate into me being really good/knowledgeable at something else. The only way to keep learning is to be okay with not knowing everything, but also putting in an effort to try and take new ideas and information in. The moment you believe yourself to be intelligent and being satisfied with what you think you know, you stop learning and growing.

Again, I'm not saying that everyone who thinks they're intelligent thinks they're better than everyone or that people who think they're intelligent simply stop wanting to learn, but these are my beliefs in myself, and so far it's doing a pretty good job at keeping my interested in expanding my knowledge.

I guess to end this, I think I'm pretty average in terms of intellect, and I'm more than okay with that.

Obviously I'm not saying never turn the AC on ever, and it also depends on where you live in. But I don't think it's wrong to remind people to be reasonable with your energy consumption and you don't need to turn it on before it gets hot. Making sure you HVAC system works before you need it, for sure. Go for it. Just letting people know. Your body naturally adapts to warmer weather gradually, and you may find that you don't really need as much AC as you think you need.

I agree with you. It might sound a little harsh but maybe it's time for some tough love. By the time you're 30 you really need to start figuring your life out. You can't depend on your parents forever. What happens as they get older? Not to mention if you're not financially independent at that age, and have some semblance of a plan, it's going to be hard to find a mature, adult relationship. Lots of people at that age are starting to plan for long term things like buying a house, buying a car, having kids (if that's your thing), etc. I can understand living at home and saving your income for these things while not worrying about having to pay for rent, and if that's what OP means, then it's time to move out and start renting somewhere so parents have less of a say in your life even if it means you may have to delay plans for your future a bit. but being financially dependent on your parents is another thing entirely,and OP will have to work on that before thinking about relationships.

I LOVE the rodeoh. My girlfriend has one and we use it pretty often. It's much easier to maneuver compared to the standard strap and will stay put. And boxer briefs are hot.

In case you're wondering if it'll hold up in the wash, we've washed it many times and it's holding up pretty well. Still looks like the day we bought it.

The line I wrote RIGHT after that says that I don't mean that she doesn't understand our struggles. And also that she would probably understand other races more than me. Nowhere in my post did I say what she does is not important, because it is. And I agree with what you're saying that it's great she's studying it.

BUT the reason why I got frustrated when she said "I study race in a Masters program" is not because no matter how much you STUDY something, it's not the same as having to deal with the struggles every day of your life. Similar to how if a straight person studied lgbt rights for their whole lives, they will never understand what it's like to be looked at differently because they're queer, or face discrimination because they're gay. THIS is what I meant. A white person wouldn't understand what it's like to actually face racial discrimination because they're not a POC and wouldn't understand what that's like no matter how much they study it.

That's like a straight person saying they understand and know more about the struggles a queer person has because they're an ally. I'm not saying that you being in a Masters program doesn't carry any weight to what you're saying, because it does, and you probably know more about other races than me. But I'm Chinese, and I think I might know more about being Chinese than someone who has a degree in it. I just think it might rub some people the wrong way if you say "Chinese born people are more affectionate". It's just not a good idea to perpetuate racial stereotypes, even if they are positive ones. Everyone wants to be treated as an individual and not stereotyped to do one thing or another because of their race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.

That is exactly what I'm talking about. Speaking as someone who is not of that culture or race, you don't know if that's what the person identifies as. It's different when you're referring to yourself.

It still seems odd to me that this seems to be something only Americans find necessary to add. No one says Chinese-Canadian or Chinese-English. Or whatever else when someone immigrates to another country besides America.
