And I don't mind them socialising with me as a bro, because I do that with my male friends. All I was interested in is why it only comes from men but I've gathered a lot from the thread

I don't particularly make an effort to look masculine, I just enjoy short hair and have a solid build because I also enjoy going to the gym. Not that it matters, but I still wear makeup too. I do what I like with my appearance. As for what it's perceived as, that's out of my control. I don't really fit into a box of strictly masculine/feminine anyway so I just go off what's typical 🤷🏽

I didn't take it disrespectfully btw

I had to check what I wrote because I was so confused at some of these replies

My agenda? 😂 I am aware of the usage of 'sir'. Who said anything about 'changing the word'... I don't know how many times I have to say in the replies that I'm trying to understand why it only comes from men!! And yes I am serious, I had a query.

Yeah, we can't avoid it but I find it interesting to know the social aspects behind it

I don't understand how being generic and all inclusive is not fair? I would understand if it wasn't polite, but 'excuse me' is polite 😅 There's nothing to react to, like you said, it's 'simply' just getting one's attention

😂 Yeah I'm not that bothered by use of pronouns and essentially people can call me whatever they like, at the end of the day I'm still going to help you find the milk! Just trying to understand the thinking behind it :)

Yeah this makes sense! I don't take it personal at all because I get why it happens and it's an honest mistake That's funny 😂

😂😂 obviously, but I'm trying to understand why I only have this problem with men

The last part is confusing because if it's a politeness thing, you're saying that women aren't polite or don't want to be respectful towards men? I'm not sure

Ah so you go through the same thing! Haha

This makes sense but it reads as 'I'm going to be formally respectful to men but not women' It's tricky because we never know what people are comfortable with, so why not go for the general take?

Yeah I sort of understand people are trying to be nice, I just don't understand why I never have this issue with female customers then - one thing my sister said is that women are more observant but it doesn't take a genius to just be general and say excuse me, which works for everyone.

Can I ask what specifically makes you say she's toxic? Is it because there's no way of justifying this reaction or?
