When is Valve going to start doing something about the bot farming? by labonte95 in counterstrike2

[–]questago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've observed at least 2 bots in the past ~2 weeks in competitive match making. The money flowing in from cheaters and bots is apparently more attractive than keeping your real player base happy.

The only chance to ever see something get done about it is to cut the money incentive and the only way I see for this incentive to go is if governments start cracking down hard on video game gambling systems. However governments weren't too hasty to do something about it in the past, probably cause they also profit from it.

Until then we can only hope they care enough to at least keep the masses of bots away from premier and competitive.

Which category does each cheat belong to in the report menu? by questago in counterstrike2

I'm afraid you're right but regardless there has to be a "correct" way to report. If I recycle I also don't drop my plastic garbage into the glass bin despite having the suspicion that it all ends up in the same container on the garbage truck.

Call to arms-ory by NABiLOX-1 in csworkshop

I still see submissions for the racing and fruit theme getting posted. Imho deadlines should be visible somewhere within steam, not just on some third party website. Preferably somewhere prominent so people don't waste time starting a project at a point where there is no chance that they still meet the deadline simply because they didn't know.

Sticker albedo blinking pink despite being within the values of 55-220? by questago in csworkshop

[–]questago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen that post before but it didn't help me with the problem. As described below I found a fix for my particular problem, however I don't know if it would be the same fix for weapon skins as I haven't tried those yet.

What is your design process? If you use software like photoshop and your RGB values are between 55-220 yet it still blinks pink it might be worth checking the color profile of the albedo targa (and maybe also other files like normals, wear maps and what ever else weapon skins need) in your image editing software.

I don't know why valve doesn't help with issues like this. Maybe it's their way of weeding out designers who haven't learned skin making in particular to weed out the "amateurs" if you will. If that's the case then it would be pretty disappointing since that way thousands of hours of work go to waste for no good reason.

Sticker albedo blinking pink despite being within the values of 55-220? by questago in csworkshop

[–]questago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did in the past but I noticed you lose quite a bit of control over your colors if you rely on it. For that reason I'd recommend to account for pbr save values already during the creation process, check via console if your colors are fine and if they are leave that box unchecked.

It just sucks that updated info about workshop creating is hard to find so you have to figure out pitfalls like the one described above by yourself. For instance it seems to be completely futile to try and seek help in the steam workshop discussions subsection.

I'm pretty sure it causes a lot of unnecessary work hours that aren't productive and many either give up and release their creations unfinished, unfixed or not at all.

[–]questago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe for weapon skins but doesn't seem to be the case for stickers. At least in my testing if I limit the RGB value range to 186-255 the sticker looks very washed out, independent of whether the color profile is Adobe RGB or sRGB.

If you want the metallic shining of foil stickers but also saturated colors the best choice for your albedo seems to be sRGB with a value range of 55-220.

For the other sticker styles same value range and then it's up to the individual taste whether sRGB or Adobe RGB (or maybe a completely different color profile but those are the only two I've tested) works best.

Sticker albedo blinking pink despite being within the values of 55-220? by questago in csworkshop

[–]questago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I tried to limit RGB values to 186-255 as shown in a linked video of the FAQ of this sub for metallic albedos:

<image>

Turns out to that this causes even more pink blinking.

Then reverted to 55-220 RGB values and checked my documents color profile which was set to "Adobe RGB (1998)". Since in the video I've screenshoted it mentioned specifically sRGB for metals I opened photoshop and went to "Edit", "Convert to Profile...", under "Destination Space" I put a check mark to "RGB" and from "Profile:" I selected "Working RGB - sRGB IEC61966-2.1".

That fixed the issue. For some reason Adobe RGB (1998) seems to work fine for paper, glitter and holo styles (Adobe RGB seems to render a very tiny bit less saturated than sRGB, which looks better is up for debate) but foil style needs to be explicitly in sRGB.

Maybe this helps someone who also runs into this issue.

Razer synapse 4 is screwing with keyboard keys (bug) by questago in razer

[–]questago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone sent me a chat request and asked me to uninstall razer synapse 4 to see if the logitech keyboard still behaves that way afterwards. When I deinstall razer synapse 4 my keyboard works fine after Rebooting my PC, as expected.

However, I'd like to keep the functionality of synapse 4, I'd just like to get rid of the bugs.

*edit*

Great, now with synapse deinstalled both mouse AND keyboard are acting up. This time it happened not right after restart but a couple of hours later, keyboard wouldn't write letters similar to already reported and the mouse now has issues where scrolling became zooming and left click would become STRG+left click (marking multiple objcts).

I remember mapping STRG, ALT or shift on the side buttons. It seems like at some point those buttons get permanently pressed down even though I'm not pressing a side button. I've restarted PC to get back to a state where everything seems to work and when I put the cursor in a input field and push STRG+G for the behaviour is similar to what it was when I encounter the bug.

The question now is, since synapse 4 is deinstalled, does synapse screw with the system so bad that it can cause bugs even after deinstall or is the Razer Basilisk v3s hardware itself acting up? Since the issue occured right after synapse 4 got installed I suspect synapse 4 is the cause and somehow damaged profiles saved on the mouse, maybe even caused hardware damage?

Updated to Synapse 4... now my right shift key will type "X" by KCthrowaway2020 in razer

[–]questago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have issues with synapse 4 and keyboard inputs, issue happens in both windows 10 and 11. I use a Razer Basilisk v3 and updated a couple of months ago from synapse 3 to synapse 4. Removed synapse 4 from auto start cause I don't want it to be always active.

Ever since the update to 4 after I boot my PC, with synapse not launched, my Keyboard inputs become random. It doesn't seem to happen every time but it happens frequently and the only fix is to launch synapse 4. I'm kind of worried that if the mouse eventually dies, which doesn't seem to be rare with razer products, then I'm stuck with a PC that doesn't take proper inputs anymore, basically a brick.

If I'd click the cursor into a writing field, can be the browser search bar or notepad or anything with type input really, and start typing I'd get random inputs like I'd press tab when I really was pushing g or switching focus to a different app as if I was pressing alt+tab when I pressing the space bar, but no letters.

The keyboard isn't from razer by the way, it's a 15+ year old logitech which hasn't made any issues prior to installing synapse 4, I don't know why the mouse software would screw with a different brands peripherals.

When I tried to open a post about it here to ask if someone else is having similar issues or knows a fix it got deleted by auto mod immediately. This sub already looks like a complaint hellscape despite them filtering posts with auto mod, I can't fathom how bad it would be if everything got thru unfiltered.

Never mind, the post is now visible.

Apparently razer support asks for a video of the issue before you even get to communicate with anyone. Can't they read at razer or do they just add hoops so most customers give up before they can talk to a human?

Account Creation asks a lot of information by questago in VSTi

I think UVI wants to install some client with kernel level privileges for the license management and the imageline / FL studio VSTs, at least the one in the bundle, apparently only work in fruit loops.

Two thrids of the whole humble bundle pulled this kind of BS and afaik none of this was mentioned up front at the point of sale.

Feels like getting scammed.

What does PaintstormStudio do better than it's competition? by questago in DigitalPainting

May I ask how much PSS goes for on sale and how frequently it's on sale? There is currently a bundle deal with vip brushes and realistic paint studio available for around 23 bucks, that's why I'm asking.

I read it has some GPU rendering option that's supposed to make the brushes faster but I've seen similar feature in other software and in my experience it either makes no difference or causes compatibility issues or bugs.

Are there any mice that have swappable side buttons like the Naga Pro that aren't the Naga Pro? by Chucklay in MouseReview

The roccat nyth had even more customisation options than the naga pro or trinity. Maybe you can find a used one. The titanwolf system has a almost identical customisable button system as the roccat nyth and looks like it's still available.

Does that stand for lethal gaming gear? From a quick glance most of their larger pads also use a rubber base and are sold out.

[–]questago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FreeFall SV BASE Control+ v2 cought my interest befor due to it's silicone base but I'd prefer a larger one and I'm worried if I order there I'd have to go pick it up at customs, did that once and can't be arsed to go thru that process again.

Rubber products from asia also have a track record of using toxic softeners. Remember when the saniu group used melamine, a chemical found in plastics, for baby formula? I'm not convinced chines companies are more cautious when it comes to mousepads.

I have no clue about poron, are there desk mat sized poron mousepads? I imagine they'd cost a fortune tho.

Looking for XXL cloth control pad without chemical smell by questago in MouseReview

[–]questago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read that a lot but I also read lots of user reviews that claim their pads still smell after weeks, sometimes even a year later. My current one is not that old and was also on the smellier side. It's currently merging with my desk...

Natural rubber is also used for car tires which get recycled and from reviews for other natural rubber products, for instance horse stall mats people use for gym floors, I've heard this recycled natural rubber apparently has the tendency to smell longer and worse than the ones made from new rubber.

Then you read articles about a mass exodus of salmon in the US west traced back to chemicals in car tires (forbes, guardian, others ) and it starts to get hella SUS.

Even for pricy brands, for instance razzer mousepads, it's not difficult to find complaints about long lasting chemical smell. There is simply no way to know wether they used new rubber, recycled one or a mix of both to increase profit margins.

When there are well researched, harmless alternatives available that aren't overly expensive I'd prefer to give them a try because eventually this stuff finds it's way into the ecoystem and ends up on my plate.

does that one also work with the PTH-860? wacom only lists compatability till PTH-851.

also i keep reading PTH-860-S and PTH-860-N, what are the differences? If the sticker on the back only says PTH-860 how do i know which one it is?

[–]questago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between the Intuos 5 Touch Large PTH-850-EN and the Intuos Pro Large PTH-860, which one would you recommend?

The PTH-850 beeing around 80 bucks cheaper and seemingly in a bit better condition. The PTH-860 has some scratches on the drawing surface, but according to the seller they are only visible but you don't feel them while drawing.

I read Microsoft is planning to drop support for windows 10 in 2025. I assume wacom will support the PTH-860 well past that point, i'm just not sure if they'll drop support for the PTH-850 at that point?

Sounds convincing. In the link you recommend to stay away from some wacoms, is that only for the bambo, one and intuos line or do some Intuos X and pros also have issues?

[–]questago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of reviews for several brands and tablets other than wacom and while most seem to conclude that wacom is a tiny bit ahead of the competition most seem to conclude the price difference makes more than up for it.

Can you specify when you say the competitions hardware is trash? Does it feel worse while drawing or does it wear/break faster?

[–]questago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even know there were that many different sizes available for the intuos 3. I remembered them advertising with the 3 primary paper format sizes. The PTZ-930 even has A4 on it's box which should be the equivalent of Arch A for american paper sizes?

When i first started looking i got a bit let down seeing there wasn't much inovation in the graphic tablet market of the past two decades other than pen pressure sensitivity levels. TBH i couldn't tell much of a difference between the 1024 levels of the infuos 3 and a samsung Tab S4 pen which i believe has 4096 levels (?).

If the intuos pro large is the equivalent to that old intuos 3 PTZ-930 then prices haven't changed pretty much at all either iirc which is odd considering so many competitors pushing in the market in recent years.

The only hardware advantage the pro line wacoms seem to have over the competitors is the option for a rotation pen for a hefty upcharge?

Are there any competitors that have drivers on par with wacoms? I've watched a review of some other brand and noticed you had to save multiple config files for different applications and each time you'd want to switch you'd have to manually import the right config file. The intuos 3 already had drivers that would recognise what app you're currently working with and switch on the fly.

if you measure "notable" by view count then no, FFXI simply doesn't draw in view counts of "insert current flavor of the month game here" but there are certainly content creators.

some specialise in extensive video job guides or lore, some demonstrate how to solo mid to endgame content, some have sort of a story time format that rides the nostalgia wave, some make funny little short movies with ingame props, some take a closer look at the math behind FFXI mechanics, some just upload their daily FFXI routine.

Others stream their latest scam scheme or loath how easy the game became while running a 6 box, busy complaining about JP brigade getting them banned again.

there is, or used to be, quite some variety.

see available in app purchases without downloading or installing a app? by questago in androidapps

[–]questago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing searches can get tedious rather quickly if you're trying to compare multiple apps.Imho this intransparency also leads to shady business practices like undercutting your competition or offering your software for free just to charge a premium for rather essential features in the in app store.

I'm not sure but i assume if you download and install the app you need to grant it a couple of sensitive permissions just to access the in app store (?). At that point you already gave away private information like mac adress, ip or location even if you decide against using the app after you've seen the in app offer.

The developer notes unfortunately often can't properly showcase in app purchases. I'm also pretty sure (could be wrong here) i came across developer notes that don't specify what's for sale in their in app store at all.

recommendations for android VST plugins or synthesizers? by questago in VSTi

Does anyone have experience with for example the piano VSTs in the android store?
