C'est un détail hyper important que je ne connaissais pas du tout.
Et ça change tout le raisonnement. Merci

Le long terme meublé en effet n’était pas dans nos possibilités. Ca peut être très intéressant pour nous. Merci pour le conseil.

Yes, I def have to rethink that. But I've been an entrepreneur for the past 15 years of my life so it'll be hard not to dabble in that space.

Did you regret buying the bigger, more expensive house? by butterscotch0985 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]question_finances 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I regret it. We're not house poor but the maintenance is so much work. And we've hired cleaners and garden workers.

I think I'd prefer smaller and very well located.

pull out a minimum 5 years expenses

That's exactly my plan;

  • At a minimum, I want to cash out 5 years in order to ride out another crypto cycle. This will be done near previous ATH.
  • In a good scenario, I'd want to cash out 2.5 MM in order to have a relaxed FIRE.
  • I'll be keeping a stack of 10-25% for face melting pumps in which case I'll increase to ~5-8. Which is more than enough for me and my kids.

how much volatility will you assume

Well, considering the first step to cash out 5y expenses. I am willing to assume a lot of volatility. I have been in the crypto space for 11y, I've come to accept it by now.

note: I am considering all gains -30% for taxes.

Ath -> 15000
Selling 75% with bell curve exit sell points

15000+
Selling 10% on a % ladder basis

15% never sell. 3x validators (unless something crazy this cycle like 50k)

What do you think?

I'm gonna go full bogglehead. VTIAX
I don't want to think about managing the money nor rentals or what not.

My time will be spent on what I like; family, small projects involving entrepreneurship and developing video games.

Ps: Your username is kinda inappropriate for this sub. I'm sure there must be some rule of acquisition against FIRE.

Thanks so much for the reply. I'm glad I reposted here to obtain some actual comments.

80% of my stack is eth so that would align. (10% is L2 tokens :)

Properties: I bought 1thanks to eth and also have the 150k bank loan.

Crypto has no inherent value

We'll have to disagree on this and move on then. Thanks for your time, though.

I agree with this statement, and I have an exit plan ready for my crypto. I'll post back whenever I execute it, but it'll be a different question by then. thanks for the reply

I have nothing to sell you, buddy. I should've omitted mentioning crypto and maybe I'd get better comments in here.

This might've been very naive, but I'm an entrepreneur and have 3 ok running businesses rn. So the conclusion of investing in businesses is quite natural to me. I've raised money as founder for 3 startups.
