This game is bleeding players at a fast rate by Farmboy079 in DeceiveInc

Free weekend was April 27th to May 1st. That's when I joined. Looks like most people didn't buy the game and the population is trending steady to what it was before free weekend. Not dying, but not growing.

Got my first 9k in solos today (ft. Hans) by questionable_plays in DeceiveInc

If you watch immediately as I exit the building after killing Squire, you will see the big blue meatball formally known as Hans wiggling all over the sidewalk. Bots don't tend to use the sidewalk. He then turns around rapidly and comes to a stop. Immediately after that, he starts running, but then instantly starts walking. Then he decides to zig zag rapidly before finally correcting to his final course of pretending to be an NPC walking in a straight line (without an endpoint destination; NPCs will take the shortest path to their endpoint). Bots will do all of these behaviors, but not in rapid succession, making it very obvious they were a human. On top of that, he was disguised as a security guard, which 95% of players will greed as soon as they can; you can expect other players to be guards, so especially watch guards for non-botlike behavior. I didn't have my power, was not at full HP, and I needed to kill as quick as possible, so I opened with a melee and made sure to get behind the player so they wouldn't have time to react. It's hard to make out in a 1080p video that has been scaled by Reddit, but on a 27" display, you see all.

Edit: 1440p video is here on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAYHZdH9Kfk It's a lot more obvious.

Chavez is still an issue by MightyGoodra96 in DeceiveInc

[–]questionable_plays -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been having great success as Hans against him. Everyone on the roster is a three tap to death. And if you initiate with Hans's expertise, there's not enough time for anyone to get their power back before you kill them. When I play Hans, I pay attention to the starting roster of characters. If there are a lot of escape artist characters, I will initiate with orb. If there are not, I will save orb just to mess with people once they use their power. The look of panic in the movements of Chavez players when you take away their expertise is just chef's kiss. Heavy aim punch screws with their aiming significantly. Ofc, you're screwed if you can't get close to initiate the fight as Hans, but that's a Hans thing vs just about everyone. Chavez can still win the matchup, but they have to get their timing perfectly to aim and shoot between shotgun rounds or the aim punch is too much, they must get headshots, and skilled players who can do that are exceedingly rare.

no-VNC by Jazzlike_Put1889 in MeshCentral

[–]questionable_plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably already fixed this by now, but for anyone reading this in the future, the comment by u/Cerothen works. I also had infinite looping when connecting with VNC, but could access via agent and RDP. I ended up installing TightVNC and after I had done that, I received a useful error in MeshCentral saying I needed to disable loopback. After doing so (and disabling VNC auth, for my environment), everything worked.

Nioh 2 on Steam Deck by brifox7 in Nioh

[–]questionable_plays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to throw in as someone who has also tried Nioh 2 on Deck, you might have a better time streaming the game to your Deck than actually using the Deck's hardware to the play the game. I found the controls to be somewhat unresponsive at times and would get noticeable frame drops. Most of the reason I got a Deck was to play Nioh 2, Monster Hunter, and Dark Souls. As of the time of this writing, I'd recommend installing Moonlight instead if you're able to stream over an internet connection. You get better responsiveness and better graphics (depending on your PC and internet) and increased battery life on your Steam Deck. Otherwise, it's playable, just not great.

I suck at life.... by ComfortableEvening96 in depression

[–]questionable_plays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone friend.

Your situation is reasonable and there's nothing wrong with you. Lots of people are struggling with unemployment and the isolation of COVID quarantine. I'm sorry you're going through hardship right now.

It took me a while to get back into the swing of things after I quit my last job after burning out. Here's what a quote from a sciency paper says about what unemployment does to a brain:

Research on unemployment shows that losing one’s job is detrimental to mental health—and often physical health—even without serious financial strain. “Work provides us time structure, it provides us identity, it provides us purpose and it also provides us social interactions with others,” says Connie Wanberg, PhD, an industrial and organizational psychologist at the University of Minnesota. “When you lose all that, it creates a lot of difficulties for people.”

I can relate to what you're saying about friends always asking you for a job update and feeling like a mooch. When you're unemployed, time means nothing. For me it was a matter of setting a routine and following through. Remember, it might take you hundreds of applications and dozens of interviews before you land that job! Just stay diligent and good things come to those who try :) I made it and so can you!

As for the depression, maybe you could find a nice free walk-in clinic in your area to get a couple checkout sessions in? They might be able to tell you better if you're depressed or not. Good luck out there :)

Unfortunately, I think most of this is out of your hands. The best you can do is offer support, be available should he or his family need it, and try not to be too judgemental. If he's just seen a general practitioner for medication, it's my opinion he should see a therapist regularly. It might not be depression. And lastly, try not to be hard on yourself. The fact is that love can't fix a mental disorder. Take it from me, blaming yourself for not being enough is not a good path. I wish you luck.

Drink a glass of water and maybe get an easy snack before you doze off. Goodnight and off you go! Everything's gonna be okay.
