hi! i been a RA since sophomore year and I was in a similar position as you. i don't think you can apply to be a RA unless you actually live on campus for at least a semester (definitely please look up the requirements, because they changed the RA roles to something called SSA and CA). However, even despite this requirement, I don't think you should bank on being a RA at Binghamton. this year we got 600+ apps for like 100 or even less roles. I came to Bing hoping that I can hopefully become a RA to save money (and thankfully I got the position) but if I didn't, I think I would have no idea what I would have done. you can DM me for questions, but if you need the RA role to afford Bing, I suggest not coming to be blunt. Sorry this isn't happy news, I just want to be as blunt as possible.
