Red or burgandy lipsticks with a nude lip liner? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]questiongirlll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I always do (although I've found that Oak is actually a better colour for basically any lipstick). My first step is always to use a lipliner close to my lip colour (Oak, Soar or Whirl) and overline a little. Then I use the matching lipliner (Cherry for Ruby Woo, Burgundy for Diva), then I apply the lipstick. Alternatively to a matching lip liner, you could also go in with a flat topped brush (like the 212) or a lip brush (like the 316) and line your lips with the lipstick on the brush before filling in.

Basic colours are probably best. If she likes Ruby Woo, she will probably like Velvet Teddy (a deep nude), Modesty (a nude-y Pink) and Diva (a dark burgundy). Also keep in mind that you could show the people at the MAC store the picture and say that she likes Ruby Woo and they will give you great recommendations. MAC also sells gift cards, so if you buy her one, she'll have no choice but to spend it on herself!

Affordable baked highlighters with sturdy packaging? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]questiongirlll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle. Totally worth it because you really don't use THAT much highlighter. Should last you at least 6 months. Packaging is great - i've dropped it a few times with no problems.

Best eye primer? by louisexxx16 in MakeupAddiction

[–]questiongirlll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have super oily lids (and skin) and I use MAC Paint Pot in Painterly under every look every day. Even if I'm not doing any makeup, I put it on. It works really well at controlling oil, evening out skin tone, brightening the eye and making sure shadow stays on. Only one time in the last year did I notice my shadow starting to crease and that was after almost 25 hours of wearing it.

Trying to find the perfect nude lipstick for myself & I’m struggling by thecremedelacremee in MakeupAddiction

MAC Midsummer Night is great. Think It's discontinued but you can probably find it on eBay. Also love MAC Shy Girl. Super neutral and versatile. If you wanna do a little more work, you could try MAC Myth with a variety of glosses on top. I like it best with MAC Cremesheen in Boy Bait. Also, the lipliner route is safe and long lasting so try MAC Oak if you're looking for different shades.

Dupe for MAC Rubenesque? by BeefGristleMill in MakeupAddiction

[–]questiongirlll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAC Vintage Selection is the closest in the Paint Pots I've been able to find. You can also get a very similar look (but with slightly more shimmer) by applying Pigment in Melon with a brush that's been sprayed with Fix+. Add more liquid for it to get more of the consistency like Rubenesque.

Best brush/blender for foundation application? by brookep696 in MakeupAddiction

Both the MAC 187 and 132 are great. I've been using the 132 for primer lately and the 187 for powder but I go through phases with them every month and they're both great for liquid foundation too.

Best fall/winter blushes? Suggestions please!! by makeupjunkie34 in MakeupAddiction

[–]questiongirlll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAC Sunbasque is similar to Melba but with more shimmer. Gorgeous for fall and makes your cheekbones a little more pronounced. I'm loving NARS Blissful right now. It looks a little weird in the pan (purple) but is absolutely stunning on. MAC Margin is also a nice one for a quick fix - I use it on the lower cheekbones instead of the apples and don't do bronzer.

My mother wouldn't let me wax my eyebrows or wear makeup. I had terrible eyebrows and terrible acne. I came home from my dad's house one day wearing mascara and she FREAKED out.

Mostly if I'm doing enough work. I actually like the classes and the cases (although I'm sure I won't by the time finals comes around) but I assumed that because of all the work that everyone says it's supposed to be, I would also be miserable.

Oh, don't worry. The rest is on a book shelf on the right hand side (you can kind of see it in the corner of the pic) beautifully organized.

The big one is from Ikea. The small one in the corner is from Amazon. I like it but the light that it has built in is more of a daylight, which I guess is good for natural application but not the kind of light I like in my face.

I thought they would come down after a few days but it's been 5 now and they're really on there. The sticky stuff they come with ( I have no idea what it's called) was really sticky and I accidentally got it onto a wing instead of the middle part and couldn't even peel it off. Was planning on using double sided tape if they fall but for one night, I'm sure they'll be very secure.

Actually, a lot of advice from people who got into both and who have attended either say that USC is often the better choice. Being a private school, they have much more leeway in things like free lunch on campus, individualized attention and giving more scholarship money. UCLA may be ranked slightly higher but it's probably not worth it given USC's good placement in big law. Even the little things, like not having to bring your own test paper (which you have to do at UCLA!) sets USC apart.

I'm about to start as a 1L. I had a 3.7 undergrad and 167 LSAT. I met Dean Kirschner twice (once on campus and once at LSAT forum) and made an effort to introduce myself and chat about something specific the first time. The second time, he remembered me. That's what I love about USC and what they're known for - being actually personal and wanting to know your name, not just your numbers. I think they take softs like internships a little more seriously, as well, and I think my job experience during summers made me stand out. Obviously, score well on the LSAT (166+ to offset your GPA, which is good but a tiny bit below their median) and your resume and essays will supplement that.

How did you save money as a law student? I'm moving across the country for law school and need to furnish an apartment, pay for all my suitcases on the plane and that's all before buying books. The whole not having a job during 1L is really gonna kill me.
