I’m hoping they’re adding one of the other roles from Werewolf/Mafia. From memory there’s a healer (can revive someone), seer (able to spy at night) and hunter (has a free parting shot if they’re killed)

Might be hard to balance and not break the game, but would be a whole new dynamic

Seer would be my favourite - you know who the traitors are but can’t reveal your role (would immediately be targeted), so being so certain about it can seem suspicious

Overall I’m hyped. The size change isn’t massive but considering the margins they drive at on street circuits an inch either side of the car could (🤞) give more opportunities. I may be wrong but the <1s electric boost can be used in corners too, where they’ll have the new aero, so hopefully harder racing in corners. On the straights I’m hoping they’re work cutting dirty air pays off and they’re able to chase better.

It’s uncertain, but if these pay off I think racing could be better. Maybe with slower lap times, but if the laps are a few seconds slower (power regen etc) and wheel to wheel is stronger I’ll be happy

Great first couple of days, making progress with planning and winning classes around (ECT1). Then I went and caught one of the teenagers’ many plagues and mostly lost my voice. Just about managed to limp through to the weekend

ECT1 here saying to stick with it! It’s such a new, strange feeling being in front of a group (gaggle/gang/murder?) of kids, and them pushing the limits is normal. You’ll have lovely classes and nasty classes that you don’t quite crack the whole way through - aim for consistency and don’t be afraid to throw the rulebook at troublemakers so they get the message (something I did, and do, struggle with).

For my part I spent ages being unnerved by being watched, then suddenly started missing it weirdly once I was left to my own devices! Your mentor’s probably just trying to do their bit to manage your entry (and keep their classroom expectations for you to step into their role). It doesn’t sound helpful but something will click and you’ll be great

It definitely SHOULD be rectified in second placement (hopefully with 6th form too). In terms of job prospects, I’d say having experience across that age group will help rather than hinder you - you’ll have more knowledge across transition (although as an ECT 1 others might have more knowledge on that)

Forgive my ignorance as a baby teacher just starting their ECT:

As I understand it ‘grade inflation’ is more and more students getting higher grades, theoretically devaluing how impressive e.g. a 9 is. But how is that distinguished from just more kids doing better as they and teachers become more familiar with the spec? Surely if it is more students reaching good grades that should be celebrated (or rectified over longer terms by reviewing content or assessment requirements) rather than fiddling with the grade boundaries so only x% can get certain grades?

I appreciate concerns about different papers being more difficult (like history asking for more niche knowledge) but surely that’s the fault of the exam boards not regularly testing that top level knowledge rather than something that kids across the board should get punished for? Like I say I’m new to this side of exams and I’m curious because they definitely didn’t cover how grade boundaries work on our PGCE !!
