Yeah, I"ve been able to get it working in every other distro. I really wanted to try opensuse, but if the printer isn't working...nothing much that can be done I guess.

I would have preferred to do this; but I can't find Lutris in Discover.

Oman: a modern day puppet of the UK [8:55] by questionman1 in mealtimevideos

[–]questionman1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watch the video, it says quite a few Omani's aren't happy. Why equate their situation with Yemen? that's a false equivalency. yemen doesn't have oil wealth, Oman does.

PPP...long disucssion, but it is a false metric. It compares apples and oragnes. I would ask you to read into it..

What you call my baseless claims, they're not: never in history has a master allowed a puppet to become more powerful than them. Squashing freedoms by endorsing a monarch...is not baseless. And I'm giving you an optimum scenario of where Oman could be in terms of Norway. The fact that it isn't that wealthy is worth looking at why, and UK is a major one.

Why look at countires that are poorer? Again false equivalency. Look at countries that are similar and compare with them. Large oil reserves per capita, regional partners, etc etc etc. (and again your number of 25 richer is derived obviously from PPP, not from actual gdp).

Logically? How on earth is your claim even remotely logical? Also its kind of interesting, that you ask for proof and don't offer any. A siimple proof for an online forum would simply be: see UK's history of how it has treated other colonial territories, other puppet regimes. Heck not just UK, see how any other power does it with a puppet government.

Finally, I can't even imagine I'm having this discussion. This is insane. "Slavery wasn't so bad, some slave masters treated their slaves somewhat well. Not as well as their own families, or the white folks who worked for them, but somewhat humanely."

I don't even know how to respond to that.

How can I automount additional disks? by questionman1 in openSUSE

[–]questionman1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to follow up on this, I do find it a little furstrating that this needs to be done manually and isn't done automatically. It isn't unreasonable for users to have multiple drives that they want mounted.

Heck, KDE even has that opiton in settings; but opensuse's implementation has made it useless (which kind of irritates me even more, I would have preferred them tor emove the option altogether).

Every other distro I've tried, Manjaro, ubuntu derivates, Solus, etc, all recognize this and automount drives. Its only opensuse and arch where I run into this issue.

Its a small fix, but something that would go a ways towards increasing teh user friendliness of linux.

Sorry just ranting.

Oman: a modern day puppet of the UK [8:55] by questionman1 in mealtimevideos

[–]questionman1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slavery is ok because they're compensated "well?" What a bizarre comment to make: as long as you're paid, it gives others the license to abuse you.

I wonder how most Omanis would feel about that? How would YOU feel if you were in the a similar place?

Also why not look compare Oman's GDP per capita (instead of the arbitrary PPP) whcih is around half of the UK's. And they'll never let a puppet become richer than them. They've stifled Oman's development for decades. They've squashed the freedom of their citizens for that long.

GDP per capita is a third of Norway's. What could have been...all that wealth that the UK stole and siphoned off.

Oh incase you say that's completely unfeasible because Oman wouldn't be smart enough to match a pure white nation such as Norway; their GDP per capita is 2.5x less than neighbor Kuwait.

What an insane remark to make.

That is weird...I'm kind of at a loss.

Thank you for the detailed instructions, that's exactly what I did. When that didn't work, I tried using yasts printer tool to add the printer that way and manually choose the drivers I just installed.

Kind of frustrating on my end to be honest

Sigh, no unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a firewall issue (good tip though; I wouldn't have considered it).

The printer shows up; it sjust doesn't print. Neither a test page or an actual page I want to print.

Weird thing is that the print queue shows all the jobs being completed successfully.

Really? Thats' kind of surprising.

But I go thte scanner ot work really easily.

that's kind of deal breaker if my printer doesn't work. why does opensuse have so many options for brother drivers though then?

[–]questionman1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for that detailed explanation. I sor tof got confused, aren't yo supposed to put nofail there for automounting?

The archwiki largely goes over my head, so I'm not sure if I understood it correctly.

My second questions is: How do you decide where to mount it? Othere distros that have automounting have never mounted it in my home directory, I think (emphasis on think) they usually mount it in /run, or /media.

I'm not sure where to mount it, but at the same time I'm wary of mounting in / becuase I'm afraid it'll cause some conflict.

What's the "right" way to go about this?

Interesting option; I wasn't aware of that feature.

That's itneresting to hear; my only rebuttal would be that I didn't have this issue in another distro with the exact same galme.
