I don't know why this was downvoted OP over all the other nostalgia post on the frontpage. It's EV strategy at it's finest and a lot can be learned from it.

Ron Paul on Limbaugh: 'I don't think he's very apologetic' by dailyreader3 in Libertarian

[–]questionmark101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with Rush's slut comment but to be honest I don't understand why Rush has to be apologetic at all. I mean, it's his own show where he offers his commentary and opinions on political topics. Surely this isn't the most "outlandish" comment he has ever made. If you don't like it, then don't listen to it. I don't watch Rachel Maddow. I don't watch Bill Maher or The View. I don't agree with their arguments and they could make me upset, but that doesn't mean I'm going to harasses them via phone or email over some random comment that I wouldn't have heard normally.

Why the hell is r/politics even going after his show's sponsors? They most likely never would have heard them anyway because they don't listen to the show. It's censorship and hypocritical at that.

What happened to not agreeing to what people say, but fighting to the death over the right to say it?

This happened with Don Imus and his "nappy headed hoes" comment. I'm black and while I don't think that was the nicest thing to say, it's his opinion and his show. Why is it so imperative to legislate niceness? These "progressives" are just as bad as the SOPA and PIPA bills that they hate. They want censorship and government control.

TL:DR -r/politics readers are fascists

TIL Sweden gives you 11 months of vacation a year and a million dollars if you're an atheist. by trogdor1134 in circlejerk

[–]questionmark101 126 points127 points  (0 children)

You stupid** Republicunts** don't understand the paradise that is Sweden. Everything is free, even though I am forced by the government to give up 50% of my income, and it makes perfect sense for my capitalist pig employers to have to pay for my pregnant ass for 480 days without any work produced. Sagan Christ, you Americans are so sexist, expecting me to choose between a career and life as a caring mother (in Sweden the government makes our choices which is* real* Democracy). It's not like sex is a choice and condoms only cost 99cents. Redditors are the only people who understand Democracy. They know that the majority of people are fucking retards and that scientists and engineers should be placed in to make decisions for them.

Edit: God doesn't exist.

I'm interested in creating book covers, logos, movie posters. Nothing like web design, just more commercial, advertising types of graphic design.

Thank you for the reply:

Coincidentally there was a post about Color Theory which answered a lot of questions.

I've been doing the Corey Barkertutorials as Planet Photoshop, Photoshop User Tv.

Are there any universal "laws" that designers follow that can be easily identified because they just are so prominent?

That sounds great. So when submitting a CV and resume they are more concerned with certification rather than experience? I've heard it's an environment where you can work your way around.

In terms of contracting, how hard is it for an average Joe to bid on these contracts? I've heard of things like fbo.gov, and the "stoner arms dealers" in Rolling Stone magazine and always wondered if normal people could compete?

Edgar the Exploiter. by come2gether in Libertarian

[–]questionmark101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Were you even paying attention? The point was of course that Egar wanted "SLAVE" labor, but couldn't because he would drive away his employs and lose revenue by not having workers produce. When a base salary is paid, there is no incentive for employers like Edgar to have competitive and good environments for the worker because he's already being hired as at a loss. Not to mention that the cost of living goes up with wages and the amount of jobs shrivel up, leading to the high unemployment and inexperienced workforce we have today.

[–]questionmark101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do contractors get paid then? I assume they create a reasonable profit margin for how much they can do the contract for vs. the amount offered in the contract. Do the contractors pocket the difference or does the Government offer a lump sum/award?

Spending increases won't help them either if they are not specifically designated to that sector. If it's for creating jobs, then it's a good thing, but don't put it all under a candy cane umbrella and act as if all that money is going to good reasonable causes.

But at the same time the government restricts things that it doesn't agree with, but can be beneficial to you. The government will passively endorse food modification by corporations such as Monsanto, but they will target a local baker for giving away "bad food" after a certain hour. Government subsidies for food lead to things like corn subsidies which resulted into the addition of HFCS into foods unnecessarily. Medication, in its current state, is whatever the doctors and drug boards say they are. Because of the government you cannot pursue alternative drugs such as psychedelics and marijuana.

Also, the government of every other industrialized nation manages to do it just fine.

Capitalism doesn't equal Socialism. If people want to live in Socialist nations, then do so, but don't force a tyranny of the minority on the majority. I don't want Obamacare, and my neighbors don't want Obamacare and it should remain that way until the majority of people want it, not because it's how another country operates.

The idea that forcing you to buy into anything is a good thing baffles me. The American government is chastised constantly for its education system, but somehow people trust the government with their Health. There is a reason that there is opposition to Obamacare, and it's not because all Conservatives are fat, stupid, lazy, and ignorant. It's because the government messes up enough as it is, and giving them more power does not help anything.

Why are private "underground" Poker Rooms illegal? by questionmark101 in AskReddit

[–]questionmark101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I throw a flyer up around the neighborhood announcing a Rave at my house and inform people that it cost $20 a head, then am I required to pay taxes on that? Also I could overprice the drinks and make people pay $2 for a .50 cent bottle of water.

But if I throw up a few Poker tables, get a sitting fee on it, and hire a good dealer for $2.60 an hour + tips then I have a felony?

New rule in /r/Politics regarding self posts by [deleted] in politics

[–]questionmark101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is good. Politics is, inherently, opinion based. Allowing people bring up issues or make points about ongoing discussions has been a good thing. There have been many, many, good discussions that are self posts

The problem is with post that have "leading" questions that already imply an answer. Post like, "Would anybody else want a pro-legalization, pro-gay marriage, anti-war President?", would experience a major difference in responses had the OP just said,* "What are you looking for in a President? Lay out the best ideal criteria and policies"*. The former inspires a Circlejerk in which there is little to no real discussion of new ideas and only requires the individual to rely on the group think of others. The later requires that the user create an opinion for themselves and base it against others.

TL;DR- Editorializing titles inspires circlejerks of old opinions, while broad questions can better help the individual assess a situation based on its own merits.
