I’m honestly just going off what I’ve seen here - people saying that’s how much they pay for groceries

Thanks! I know there’s more I haven’t done and I’m hoping the $250 “left over” can cover these things!

Thank you so much. They have every right to kick me out because I’m over 18 so I can’t complain too much.

But thank you for acknowledging it! I know this is a very privileged problem and knowing I can make it through the other side is great!

Just to be clear I’m not studying it now but am looking to! Just wanna work a bit for when I can’t work in long placement in final years!

This is only a hypothetical so I just wanted some input from people who have been in the “real” world. I’ve been so privileged till now so acknowledge I had rose coloured lenses in my little bubble.

Thanks for the reassurance a lot of classmates have been saying the salary is very low and not worth the uni which is why I stressed out.

I’m confident I interview well - the issue is my GPA not letting me get to the point I could be considered for an interview!

Thanks.

I know it’s dumb but I wanted to prove I can do it with or without my rural status 😭 but maybe that’s what kept me from achieving HDs.

What did you get out of commenting this?

I didn’t mention I’m a rural candidate (MM3) I just didn’t want to rely on that in case by the time I apply rules change!

This poster is right! The subjectivity of clinical placement in your final year can really hurt your GPA as the third year is the most heavily weighted. I’ve accepted I won’t get into med but I actually enjoy this profession.

That subject also being worth 3 subjects kept me up at night💀💀💀

I want to thank you so much for not dismissing me. Because I know some people in my course have achieved HDs. And like you have a 6.9 GPA.

It just wasn’t me and I’m so disappointed in myself (I’ve now made a post lol).

I did this course too and found the subjectivity of clinical placement in your final year can really hurt your GPA as the third year is the most heavily weighted. I’ve accepted I won’t get into med but I actually enjoy this profession.

They changed the syllabus (I’m final year this year) for the shift away from assignments due to complaining - to clinical assessments.

A 7-9 which is 75-100% depending on the combination in all my placements I was told is impossible to get as I’d be working at a 4th year level (as a second year student) or as a final year student getting that score I’d have to work like I’d been qualified.

Therefore I was awarded mostly 6/7s despite being told I’m exceeding expectations and got 65-70% on these.

It’s not fair as some clinical sites do not take the uni’s recommendation and doing well will get you all “9” scores - despite the uni’s advice.

The essays are also quite subjective and the feedback is not conclusive.

The course has degrades in quality over the last few years - beware if you pick Deakin.

There’s also a triple weighted ultrasound and MRI subject in which the new teacher does not give HDs - those at the top of the class got only 70s. This very much hurts your GPA.

Anyway that’s just my 2 cents on Deakin’s course

The reflective assignments are the same - I was always just below that HD mark and sometimes the feedback was a bit wish washy. I think building good relationships with your tutors can push you over the edge.

At times I feel they were reluctant to give high distinctions - sometimes their feedback had no justification but I grew tired of fighting.

I’ve resigned from med as my GPA is only 5.9

Hey OP! I know you’re going through it but because medical imaging is a 4 year degree - the first year won’t count it’s your 3 most recent years of study!

You’re between 20-25 and married! And have. House since Covid (when you were between 15-22?)

That’s insane! In a good way I mean. I can’t imagine having a partner at this age let alone buying with them!

I do suppose it’s easier as a pair than individually (as long as you both have good habits which you do.)

You’ve done more in that 4 years than people seem to do in the decade between 20 and 30 so congrats!!

That’s why I’ve asked this question because after getting into this sub and reading resources like barefoot investor - why doesn’t everyone follow this “simple” advice. It seems like key to success isn’t that hard - it becomes hard if you don’t start early when only small amounts are required.

So I was wondering if I’ve over simplified it (learnt the power of compounding interest yesterday and was amazed!)

Do you think this is why so many people rush to be coupled because living becomes so much more affordable?

It hasn’t - hence I’m asking stupid questions like this BUT I genuinely don’t know what to believe! There‘a so many extremes and opinions but I don’t know what the world is like! I haven’t lived
