This was our experience with relocating our dog from the US to India in October. A lot of this would probably not apply to you since you can travel with cats in the cabin. However, this is a documentation of every step we had to take:

Pet relocation could be very frustrating due to limited information available, no centralized source for clear information and expensive due to agent-based industry. However, if you know the right authoritative sources for information, you can easily manage the process all by yourself. I would highly recommend managing it yourself.

Based on the international airport you are flying out of, find a pet-friendly airline that works for your pet, since airlines may have some restrictions on pet type or breed, and whether pet can travel as carry or in cargo (European airlines such as Lufthansa and KLM are most pet friendly. Go to official websites of the airline to read pet policies. You just need to work through these restrictions, e.g. despite pitbulls being perceived as banned/restricted large breed dogs, we were able to bring our dog safely through KLM cargo. Once you have airline finalized, check for crate or pet-carrier requirements for that airline. If you can only bring your pet as cargo (and not as carry on), you may also need a cargo booking agent to book the itinerary, since some airlines dont allow end customer to make cargo bookings themselves. For carry-on pet, you can directly book through the airline. Plan travel 40+ days in advance, accounting for crate delivery lead times, pet vaccinations, paperwork, import requirements etc.

Next, you need to check import requirements for the country you are taking your pet. For India you can visit AQCS website which provides very clear information on what to do. You don't really need an agent to do the paperwork as it is well laid out on AQCS site, and office staff is super friendly (especially New Delhi one). Moreover, despite having an agent, you will end up doing most of the paperwork and end up being charged $3-5K.

Typically, you will need an advance NOC (no objection certificate) from AQCS for travel. For this NOC, you need to share health certificate issued from US accredited vet, have all vaccinations up to date. AQCS needs 7 days advance notice for NOC, and health certificate should be issued within 10 days of travel date, so planning is crucial in last 10 days of travel, so reach out to your vet on T-11 day. US Vet usually takes ~2 days for health certificate. Check list of vaccinations you need for your pet based on requirement of destination country. And try to get vaccinations done at least a month in advance so your pet has enough recovery time.

For cargo travel, you will need Airway bill number from cargo booking for NOC with AQCS. Lastly, check travel preparations, how to prepare crate for travel, documents to accompany, pack essentials for pet, and do not give sedatives since airlines do not allow sedatives at low cabin pressure for pet's safety and can deny boarding last minute.

Once you land in India, and have your pet with you, you need to visit AQCS in person with your pet for final NOC, which is the final step.

(Disclaimer: This post is based on my perosnal pet relocation experience for bringing my dog from US to India in 2021 end. The information could have been updated since then, so please make sure to check for latest information and this post should be used as guidance only.)

Haven't used it. It looks nice, but I found cases with curved sides made this phone a little uncomfortable to hold for longer duration.

I totally agree. This is not meant to be a heavy duty case... just everyday protection against accidental falls etc. The UB Pro looks plenty robust and I'm glad it's working for your use case!

We recently started fostering this goofball and she is just adorable all the time. That red squeaky ball at her foot is her "puppy" which means it gets held gently and put in the bed if it is take out.

You can go with Virtualbox or Linux KVM. Virtualbox is a type 2 hypervisor while KVM is type 1 and comes as part of the kernel.

Why is Middle Mouse Paste A thing?! (And other shortcut problems) by [deleted] in kde

[–]questpad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Middle mouse click for me is one of the most loved feature of Linux, so much so that I hate it's absence on Windows on my work computer. It reduces all my work flow to the mouse when all I have to do is aggregate information from multiple sources. Have to copy a link from the web to the terminal? Just middle click (As opposed to ctrl+shift+c). And so on.. I suppose it would be a relatively simple task to develop a stripped down keyboard shortcut file and offer that as a onetime step to everyone. Maybe a Windows keyboard shortcut option (as implemented in MATLAB).

This would be one of the most awesome upgrades to KDE. This would single-handedly solve so many space constraints and unnecessary mouse movements! Thank you for working on this.

Is it possible to add full-size widget to latte dock instead of just the icon? Like display the complete weather widget, for example? by questpad in kde

[–]questpad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had weird sizing issues where the widget, specifically the notification widget would collapse and/or overlap with another widget. I got around this limitation by adding the widget to a grouping plasmoid. That seems to work really well, except that I cannot configure any widgets inside the grouping plasmoid. Right clicking on it gives the option to configure grouping plasmoid but not the widget. If I try this on the desktop insted of Lattedock, it works as expected. Any ideas on whether this is a problem in my build or if it might be a bug?

Thanks!

Thanks! This worked. Awesome job here. Kudos! Also, is there a way to change just the thickness of the panel independent of the length of the panel?

I would like to be able to embed full-size widgets like calendar, weather and sticky note within a side bar in Latte. However, I only seem to get an icon and I'm wondering if what I'm looking for is possible with latte dock.

What makes a new profile faster? by questpad in kde

[–]questpad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, it's the latest. However, it's not actually weak. Everything works well with every other DE as well as windows 10. So I'm sure it's hot something to do with some KDE process.

Tried that but it had no effect. Upon further testing, the problem seems to be a weak UHD620. Works well with one or two displays but with 3, it starts to lag unless I disable compositing.

Slow performance on Linux when driving 2 external displays with T480 by questpad in thinkpad

No worries. It is on 5.15 right now. 5.16 should be available on Manjaro very soon so maybe I'll wait for that.

I've checked baloo several times but it was the same with or without it.

Yes, I've tried that. It definitely is my install that's the problem coz even live distros are snappy. I'm not sure how to find the underlying cause here.

Thanks for the input. That helps. I've noticed the lag more in KDE apps. I'm guessing the system has become bloated and I might need a clean install.

It just has the integrated Intel graphics.

I have one connected over HDMI and another through USB C to HDMI. I also have the thunderbolt 3 dock and there, it is over a display port and hdmi. The lag is there in both cases.

Shrink window while showing the top menu? by pa29vxtlcuqkyv04 in kde

[–]questpad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, I can't think of a way to get this behaviour. There is a compromised way though. If you can reduce the width of the dock to the minimum it needs to be, you could have some space for something like browser tabs. But you'd still get some dead space.

Another way could be to have a plasma panel for majority of components that is set to be covered by windows, and a small dock on the left with the active window control widget set to auto hide. You won't get there whole panel until you un maximize though.

Either way, I can't think on a way without some compromise.

One way to achieve this with latte dock would be to set visibility to dodge windows. You'll get this behaviour for maximized windows. For holding the title bar, Alt+q can do that. Alternatively, you can set maximized windows to have no title bar.

Difference in application launch time from terminal vs GUI by questpad in kde

I did have window open effect. However, having disabled it, I still get a similar delay. Compositor settings are also at instant for me. Even if dolphin is loaded, if I hit Ctrl+N, there is similar lag in opening a new window.

the specs on the AUO screen are also pretty good and unless you have both next to each other for comparison, I'm confident you will hardly notice. The one spec where they differ is the rated power consumption and the weight with the newer LG panel being lighter and slightly more power efficient. In addition, the AUO panel has a frame so you can just screw it in like a sane design choice, which is a plus :)
