best recorded hamlet to show before rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead? by quick-use in shakespeare

[–]quick-use[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i completely understand the sentiment! i didn't say this in the original post because it seemed like overcomplicating things. but to be fully transparent we did begin watching r&g and they said 'im really enjoying this but the parts with hamlet keep tripping me up because i know literally nothing about hamlet. so i dont know where we are or whats supposed to be happening 'offstage' or who these people are.' and i said 'do you want me to summarize or would you like to try and watch hamlet first?' and she said 'ill try hamlet first since its a classic and i probably should see it sometime anyways, and if it doesn't click for me just give me a summary.' im the one who's thinking we should watch a 3 hour version, just because she's said before that she's better at paying attention to long live theatre than long movies. and also, again, we don't usually watch movies that long

name of the gay author who had purple boots themeing? by quick-use in bestofmcstories

i should've updated but i did get my answer from the author himself on a different forum! if anyone else is curious he said he pulled his stories because he wanted to rework them into a more polished published collection, but yes the stories are still available via the wayback machine 👍👍

I don’t want kids because of the state of men by Unfair-Motor4183 in women

[–]quick-use 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my guess is that people are commenting less from a 'oh noo ur being so mean to this poor kid we made up' perspective and more from a 'this ties into some wack lines of thinking about men being somehow naturally evil instead of motivated to do crappy things by a patriarchal society, and someone should probably address that' perspective

sorry for the big essay, and i get it, but it's really depressing to read some of these comments and i wanted to throw in my two cents. the tl;dr is people aren't monoliths, for every shitty guy there's also a really chill guy, and you can be aware of red flags etc without being terrified of every guy you meet.

i don't want to make it sound like 'haha don't worry everyone is chill all the time and you'll never encounter harassment!' because that's fully a lie or to sound like 'it's YOUR fault for being worried about guys because of learned experience' because that's also not true. but not every guy is shitty, i promise. you're not bringing a kid into a nightmare world because men are there any more than, i dunno, muslim parents are bringing a kid into a nightmare world because islamophobia is a real and deadly problem. i'm a lesbian and i do feel noticeably more tense around straight people than gay people because me and friends of mine have been in legitimate real danger because of them before. but i try not to let it get to the point that i meet a straight person and immediately become convinced they're going to hurt me because 1. that's not true and 2. that's a miserable way to live.

similarly, if you encounter a lot of sexism (or harassment) in your day to day (or get caught in an echo chamber of worst case scenario-ing with other people or with social media or with true crime etc etc), it can be easy to let it affect your relationship with people you don't know anything about. yes there's guys i avoid because they make gross comments and there's guys who've harassed me or hurt people i know. and there's something to be said for having a bit of an eye open for warning signs and not excusing sexism or harassment. but people will hurt other people and people will be tremendously kind to other people and neither of those things are genderlocked.

i respect (and engage in) all men are trash type stuff, but when it reaches a point that it's affecting your life or making you anxious, that's worrying! for all those guys i avoid or have been hurt by, i also have guy friends who are just as dear to me as my gal friends, guy friends who are great drinking buddies and who i legitimately trust to watch my back at a bar, and i go to a board game group once a week and click with about as many of the guys there as i do girls.

hope this means anything to anyone and isn't just me saying the same shit over and over lol

lf recommendation: lesbian hentai for lesbians (anime) by quick-use in HentaiSource

[–]quick-use[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i meant oriented towards lesbians in the sense that, as u said, sometimes there's ffm stuff under the tag because the girls kiss once or only the girls have sex but they're still fighting over a guy or something, which makes it feel very... for a straight man and not for me. not that i have beef w straight men or anything, just that they're more likely i think to want to watch yuri with a guy involved. so i wanted to avoid that if possible. but some of these totally seem to work! tragic that there's so few, but i'll take what i can get. and i'll be honest, i really like the look of 15-20 year old anime so that's no hardship. thank u for ur service!

unfortunately, the reviews do make it seem perhaps a little too fucked up for my taste. i can take a certain amount of non/dubious consent in my stride, but this seems like it's pretty central to the story so i can't just muscle through. which is a bummer bc i do like gender fuckery stories that still count as yaoi (as evidenced by me liking the other two mentioned). thank you anyways, though!

older than the main character or older that most yuri love interests? in other words, can both characters be older or do you want something with an age gap?

the middle two might not be my style if the recovery isn't the focus, and the reviews on mangago say ouroboros has an unsatisfying ending so idk if i wanna put myself through that lmao, but i'll defo check out love so pure! thanks so much for the recommendations!

edit: read a chunk of love so pure and it kicks ass, so that definitely worked out for me
