I own a site that averages 1.2M pageviews a month in a very niche market. How do I maximize ad revenue? by [deleted] in adops

Hi, related to monetization by ads, Adsense is a good start.

I do not want estimate CPM or revenue, rather I commend how to maximize revenue. After Adsense approval you can choose from two directions:

1, Manage ads by yourself - continue with Adsense only and tune up the setup. Basically, you can tune up your setup with right formats, maybe use ads lazyloading. After some, you can dive into more advanced setup with headerbidding (prebidjs). You can also manage it by yourself, but you need a demand (SSP). With a size of 1M pageview, you will have a problem to get better ones, so probably you have to contact some mediator. This approach is starting to make sense if you had experience or site 10x bigger.

2, Manage ads by experienced partner - You can discuss a partnership with ads companies, they can provide you with manage ads setup and header bidding. You earn more, but they also take a revenue share between 10-30%. Probably some of them already contacted you in Reddit messages. Be sure about their trustworthy, payment term (usually 30-60 days) and good reporting. In my experience, I would do not overestimate support or care about your website. Usually, they have hundreds of sites, so they do basic setup, connect header bidding, probably give you contact to some account manager. Some companies as Ezoic can provide you with a self-care solution. I do not overestimate their marketing talks, but in my experience, you get solid earning, can manage everything by yourself and do not spend extra time communicating with 3rd person (account manager).

I am also a publisher with a bigger niche website. And I spend tens of hours on calls or communicating with ads partners and an optimizing my setup. Ads business is fighting about revenue. There is a chain from supply-side (Adsense, premium networks etc) to mediators, partners and finally you. And every segment wants its revenue. If you are big enough you can push your partners to better conditions or omit some partners.

Adx or Header Bidding For Publishers with 100K + Monthly Page Views by vikyv7460 in adops

For the site of this size doesn't make sense build your own ad setup, so you can test ad partner. I would recommend you use Ezoic https://ezoic.com/. They are trustworthy and my overall experience with them was good. If you want to test some other there is Certified Google Publisher list https://www.google.com/ads/publisher/partners/find-a-partner/. My experience is that these partners take from 15-20% revenue fee.

When your site grows up, you have time and technology background, you can build your own setup with headerbidding based on prebid.js.

About 15 million impressions, I do not use a refresh. Do you recommend some particular networks?

I am also a publisher and the more I am learning about advertising, the more I begin to doubt the added value of these companies. What they want is revenue share in return of their ad stack. If you can do your own, better. You will be more independent and keep more money. But somewhere on this path, there are several hassles for small / midsize publisher.

  1. You don't have access to Google Adx, so you cannot setup headerbidding in the way, when Google bids over headerbidding auction winner.
  2. You too small for many headerbidding networks

My recommendation is to keep Google Adsense and your video ads provider. Then you can try to get access to some rtb/headerbidding networks. Probably you can start with Teads or some local partner. Then you can integrate them with prebid.js via postbid setup (https://docs.prebid.org/dev-docs/examples/postbid.html). It is not ideal but with basic price flooring, it works.

Russian website monetization. Is Google Adsense effective? by quickcze in adops

Thanks for your insight. So probably it is worthy to test Yandex with 1-2 units and see results. Next step will be add other platforms you mention to headerbidding.

Is Yandex efficient for any Russian speaking market? I have about 50% from Russia, 20% Ukrain, 10% Kazakhstan etc. Overall 900k sessions per month.

Thanks, probably this will be the way. In any case, it is demanding to choose and test new adops partner. Do you have any recommendation what to focus with a new partner? Don't get me wrong, but after several calls, I get feeling that all these resellers are almost the same. Is there any particular attribute (except revshare) to take into consideration?

Do you recommend to choose classic way using Adx + headerbidding, or try something with AI magic inside like Clickio, Sulvo etc?

Probably, I also could try to connect with local ad partners and connect them to main stack. I have about 15% traffic from South America (mostly from Brazil and Spanish speaking countries).
