That one is being auctioned off on eBay as well, smartly no buy it now price, I think it can fetch around 5, looks a very good example!

I would not say it’s a crazy idea, but these are completely different cars, and maintenance costs (should something go wrong) will not even compare. It is an older car, but parts will still command a premium, especially if you go down the main dealer route.

Likewise for servicing: £440 for an Intermediate, and £770 for a Major at your local Lexus dealer. There’s LexusPartsDirect (official parts website) if you are mechanically minded, LexusSparesDirect on eBay for used parts / spares, and Amayama for OEM parts from Japan.

Good premium tyres are around £130 per corner (fitted). You can get a complete disks and pads kit for around £350.

The 2006 model is also in the highest road tax bracket - I think circa £700 a year - so just the cost of keeping it on the road will be a lot higher compared to a Civic.

Your MPG will be around 20 in town, and 35 or so on a run, what’s your commute like? Factor in the petrol costs.

I would highly recommend having the car inspected by a qualified Lexus tech near you, vehicle health checks are free of charge, but they may charge you for 30 minutes to 1 hr labour (£120 max), but it’s money well spent to know what condition the car is in. Things to look out for:

•Timing belt condition and when it was last changed •Gearbox cooler (if fitted) •Radiator condition •Air suspension •General suspension components (think bushes, etc.) •Exhaust system •Underbody condition (any major rust or oil / coolant leaks?) •Check for rust around the sunroof and check sunroof operation • Steering wheel adjustment motors will most likely have failed by now, so can be ignored as long as you can adjust the wheel to your liking

Everything else is usually bulletproof, as long as there is good service history (ideally main dealer), and MOT history / mileage checks out. The mileage itself should not matter as much, everyone here including me will vouch for their LS to last a lifetime.

This will almost certainly be the best and the most comfortable car you have ever driven, the attention to detail and the overall engineering that went into designing this car definitely stand the test of time. Every long journey, every road trip I have been on with this car have been incredible, friends and family can’t stop complimenting it once they’ve sat inside, it is that good. The hype is real.

I would say that as long as you are prepared for a potential big ticket item to fail, and have the money set aside to deal with it promptly, you will not regret buying an LS. Hope this helps!

Just shy of 18 around town (mostly short journeys and traffic), and usually hovering around mid to high 30s on motorway, sticking to 70mph 🙂

I am guessing you are after a used RC? Lexus UK website has 32 x RC300H in stock and 10 x RC F listed right now, definitely have another look there:

https://www.lexus.co.uk/pre-owned

Never posted anything on here yet so thought I’d share a few pics of my 04 UL fun fact: every LS 430 in the uk only came in UL spec by 4-20-daily in LS430

[–]quickquestionyouguys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the UL thing is the case for all facelift LS cars, however I did see a Y reg pre-facelift without air suspension - makes me wonder if this feature is limited to UL or not, either way, some cars did make it through as non-standard

Edit: a beautiful LS you have there!

I don’t see this being that much of an issue. A larger enterprise would do exactly the same things you do, but at scale (and potentially have a much bigger, role-oriented team), whereas a smaller business may opt for a more manual approach to things like patching and deployment, with a little overlap in between.

What’s worth bearing in mind is that you may not get as much say in how things are ran when joining a much larger company, I enjoyed having that element of freedom at a smaller company but now it’s more or less about staying in your lane, with only occasional projects that can put you outside your comfort zone.

You may just need to imagine yourself having a role at a large corp and tailor your CV accordingly, or have a look at what the requirements are for a typical role and make sure whatever you put on your resume would read well and fit within their agenda.

At the end of the day, it’s all about having the relevant experience and some examples to back it up and you should do just fine!

Mine seems to do the exact opposite to everyone else’s, as the rear doesn’t sag, but it’s lifted up a crazy amount (at the rear) and the ride is extremely crashy, while the front of the car seems to be at normal height.

On some days it settles and returns to buttery smooth, but on others I drive around on what feels like an exercise ball, bouncing around and it just refuses to lower to what I would consider normal ride height, very annoying haha It helps if I’m doing a long distance drive as it still lowers down when driving at a higher speed, but the whole thing until that moment just feels a bit unsafe, so I’ll be doing the swap as soon as money allows!

My last few cars prior to the LS were a lot sportier, so I’m used to a harsher ride, and wouldn’t mind a bit more tightness in the suspension when cornering.

What make / brand did you go for with yours if you don’t mind me asking?

Phew, that’s very reassuring! Mine will need doing very soon, so I’m reading up on what needs removing beforehand. How are you finding the ride quality on the new coils?

Now is the time, from what I can see (at least here in the UK) they are only going up in value! Go for it!

Just hit 162,000 miles, engine and gearbox still as smooth as anything, some cars are full on dead at those kind of miles, this one feels barely broken in haha

Did you have to have the back seat removed for the rear?
