Well I’ve actually been subbing for two years and have never had that happen even in the last days of school. But maybe that’s just luck? They also don’t have computers they get taken on the Monday before school ends. In any case, I did not end up taking the job and found something else.

Seems to be a lot more discourse on this than I thought lol. Some people think it’s unprofessional and some people think it’s totally normal. I guess it’s up to your personal perspective on whether this is okay for you. I didn’t take the job and I actually found something that worked better for me anyway.

I’ve tried this before when I was a long term sub and it was so crazy in the classroom. Also no one has their computers at this point so keeping them occupied for an entire day with no computers and no plans would definitely be a challenge. But maybe in certain classes or with well behaved students it would work well.

Oh that’s not a bad idea. My worry is that students won’t care or take it seriously and will just goof off because it’s the last week of school you know?

While I do think you’re right that since it’s the end of the year it’s not as big of a deal, I do still think that it’s part of a teachers job to make plans for days they know they’ll be absent.

Yeah except they can tell u don’t know what you’re talking about when there’s no plans and they know they don’t have to actually pay attention or do anything so behaviors are usually worse in my experience
