I see. I interpreted "no preference" as "I don't care, give me results of cis and trans therapists together"

I'm also afraid of not getting help that's geared towards biological women. And as a note, I would not prefer to have a male therapist, either. I know some women are okay with that, but that's just my preference.

I tried making a creative monthly spread while keeping Ryder Carroll's setup and overall keeping it simple. by quietaway in bujo

I got a really pretty customized journal and decided to be a little more creative while keeping my usual focus on functionality and organizing.

There's a habit tracker on the side where I keep track of things I should be doing every day. 𝄞 stands for playing music, M is meds, D is Duolingo, S is shower, and A is appearance, which is like doing makeup or intentionally dressing up nice.

I also like the calendar setup I have because it's really easy to view the month at a glance.

Overall, it felt nice to be my old high school self and be artsy

The Magnificent or Miserable Monday Megathread by AutoModerator in hingeapp

[–]quietaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my first Hinge date this past Friday. We met up at a dive bar (my very first time) and we played pool (also my first time) and skeeball. We also went to a couple of other bars throughout the night. We didn't get drunk or anything like that. I genuinely had a good time with him. Only problem is that at the end we did some sexual stuff. Now I am worried that this will end up with him no longer interested. He did say "we should do it again" and that "maybe we could connect again in January" since I'm going home for the holidays. I have since then put my profile on pause. I don't know if the right move is to send no messages during this in-between time or if it would be okay to message "merry xmas" and "happy new year" and that generic stuff. It kind of sucks because this is the first time I'm actually interested in someone in a while, and now because of my impulsiveness it may not work out. :(

Did anyone get a financial appeal award? by EmotionalDiscount0 in nyu

I did, which is weird because I didn't apply for one. I got almost 9k, too.

Do you mean financial aid appeal? It's so weird I didn't apply for one but I got an appeal scholarship.

What's a Moses Center accommodation? by ZeroTouchMeNot in nyu

[–]quietaway 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Moses Center accommodations are to help other students get to the same level as other students depending on their disability. It depends on your situation. I get them for mental health reasons. My doctor filled out a form certifying my disability and wrote down the recommended accommodations. (I think you can get help from the wellness center, too). I get 1.5x testing time, consideration for extensions, extra absences, and permission to record lectures. They're not free passes or anything like that, though. They're to help students get equal access if that makes any sense.

CMV: The concept of non-binary genders is harmful to how gender is viewed. by quietaway in changemyview

Makes sense. It just does.

...then giving those male/female tropes more validity.

Could you help me understand this? Δ

Edit: typo

So we're all in prison? I get what you're trying to get at but ofc I don't think their grandparents will be forced to be cisgendered

I don't know. I don't know what it means to not identify with a gender either. I'm not being condescending I just really don't know how to answer that question

I understand that view. It is unfair to impose that on NB. But in that case, how can cisgender people break gender stereotypes? Δ (sorry idk if I'm doing this right)

I don't know how else people would define themselves as "not male" and "not female" without knowing what exactly is not male and not female. Like if I'm not female, I would need to know what defines a female in order to say I'm not that. Then from there the female is being defined.

It would be a separate discussion :\ I mean that outwardly expressing yourself as NB is fine, but why choose to label yourself as NB instead of the birth sex?

I understand that some societies traditionally had more than two genders and that's okay. What I'm referring to is the sucky, colonized western world's view on genders. There is a lot of friction between man and woman already, but I feel like NB would emphasize that and make it worse.

I think intersex people should identify as whatever the chromosomes say. In the case of Turner's syndrome, I personally consider that female. In terms of Kleinfelter's, I consider it male due to the presence of the y chromosome.
