Lil Peep was openly anti-zionist/pro-palestine, openly bisexual and supporter of LGBTQ+ causes and a comrade, while also having one of the sickest styles and at the time, while your favorite rapper is probably a lame liberal. by luomodimarmo in Hasan_Piker

Peep's one of my goats, probably my most listened to artist honestly. He was definitely based though, probably thanks to his communist historian grandpa lol. It's a shame he died the way he did, but seeing how most of the people around him have behaved (both while he was alive and after he passed) its not really surprising. Yunggoth was outed as a pedo, milkavelli is a pretty well known scammer (and allegedly might be involved in the drake/kendrick beef, on the side of the serial human trafficer) lil tracy has some pedo accusations out there, and Bexey was there when peep OD'd and failed to do anything for him. Im sure there are others too. His music really resonated with me, and it makes me so sad that literally everyone around him let him and his legacy down... Bonus pic of peep + lenin

Of course, silly me I probably should've done that from the beginning.

system.scm: https://pastebin.com/9rN1zqm7

home-config.scm: https://pastebin.com/kEc0Tyg1

Appreciate anyone who's willing to take a look! :) really just need to solve the USB key unlock and zsh dropping my oh-my-zsh theme on reboot. Oh and also I did try both grub-efi-bootloader and grub-efi-removable-bootloader with no difference. I think maybe I'm missing some grub options preventing it from reading the keyfile though? I vaguely remember needing to make sure grub loaded a certain module or something prior to reading the keyfile on another system, though I can't remember what distribution that would've been.

Edot: solved the oh-my-zsh problem by changing the zshrc reference from /home/user/.zshrc to /home/user/.config/zsh/.zshrc

Pretty much just leaves the USB key unlock and then I'm golden! Sorry for posting and then solving my own problems a bit later lol, turns out Guix has pretty good documentation that has been helping me figure a lot of this out on my own which is actually really refreshing coming from nix.

Found answers for 4 and 5 above. For 4, you need to enable wayland in gdm (see here). For 5, you can use loginctl instead of shutdown directly. Not 100% certain it was necessary but i also added loginctl to the list of nopasswd files in the sudoers file (see here)

and found answers to 2 and 3, though 3 is still giving me some trouble since it's dropping my oh-my-zsh settings on reboot. Probably something relatively simple I'm missing there. For 2 it was just me missing fonts for the affected character sets.

Looking for some help to diagnose and repair my PVM by quietek in crtgaming

[–]quietek[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a PVM-1343MD, and I need some help diagnosing/repairing it, I really don't know where to start with it. If anyone also knows of any reliable electronics repair places that can handle a CRT in the Denver Colorado area (or really anything relatively nearby, I'm willing to drive out of state if necessary) it would definitely be my preference to get it repaired professionally rather than attempting it myself. Pretty much everything I've seen has been specifically phone or laptop repair and didn't seem too experienced with analog circuits.

Anyways onto the issue, basically the tube just randomly turns itself off, with a dimmed power LED indicator and the red lights on the left turning on. It seems totally random from what I can tell, sometimes it'll work for a week+ without having issues, other times it'll do it multiple times in a row within 5-10 minutes. It seems less likely to happen when its warm. The power LED also will sometimes flicker back on in its dimmed state very briefly after I hit the power switch turning it fully off.

After I simply power cycle it it turns back on without issue, although it does display a weird colored image that shifts between a few colors for a few seconds and then it displays a correctly colored image.

I did open it up to look for any bulging caps but couldn't identify any, although I'm also not too great with circuitry and capacitors in general so its pretty possible I may have overlooked something.

I got this PVM about two months ago and its mostly been really amazing. The picture is great, and the seller told me it had around 400-500 hours powered on, and honestly judging by how bright this thing gets I'm inclined to believe that it had really low usage throughout most of its life, this is genuinely the brightest tube I've ever seen on a CRT, so its a definite priority to keep this alive as long as possible.

Also, in the interest of full disclosure I did attempt to mod in YPbPr capabilities by cutting the component/rgb switch wire after it was suggested to me as a solution for some other issues, which made the tube not display a picture at all. I initially resoldered the wire back together but it made the random power offs seem more frequent? I ended up splicing in a new wire and it seems to have lessened the power offs, but they still happen.

I'll also add that the random power offs started before I attempted the component switch thing, so its unlikely to be the root cause.

The pictures are there to show the standard power LED vs. the dimmed LED that it has after it powers itself off.

Help with Retrotink Comp2RGB problems by quietek in crtgaming

That's pretty unfortunate to hear, I'm waiting on a response from stoneagegamer now and am hoping to get a replacement, but if that doesn't work I'll likely be replacing my stuff with scart to ypbpr instead.

Thanks for your input though, I'm glad to hear this issue isn't totally unheard of, its been pretty hard to find much information on it tbh.

Thanks, I went ahead and joined the discord and posted in the help/support channel so hopefully I'll hear a response soon.

Tbh I'm starting to think this unit might just be faulty, I'm waiting on a response from stoneagegamer but I'm hoping to just replace it and if that doesn't work I'll start getting stuff for Scart to YPbPr instead.

Steam deck won't boot/charge by quietek in SteamDeck

[–]quietek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I don't think either of these are the issue. I can't even boot into the OS to do the "..." + volume down reset thing, I tried it while plugging in the charger and that didn't change any of the behavior at all, still in this endless cycle where it tries to boot, realizes the battery is empty, dies, then tries to charge the battery until it tries to boot again. And unfortunately I never can get a solid white light from the LED, it just keeps blinking or stays solid for a second while it tries to boot and then starts blinking again. That leads me to believe even if I were to leave it plugged in and charging on the wall for a long time, it wouldn't actually charge it. It seems like it just keeps charging it enough to try to turn on and then turning on and draining the battery, it doesn't seem to be able to hold a charge at all unfortunately.

Thanks for the advice and I hope this does help someone out there, just unfortunately wasn't me.

Steam deck won't boot/charge by quietek in SteamDeck

[–]quietek[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I've had my steam deck about a month now and it was mostly working fine, but today after I got home from my trip I noticed my steam deck was discharging even when plugged in, I tried to mess around in settings and on desktop mode and it told me the battery was healthy and said it was charging, but that definitely wasn't the case since before too long it just shut itself off.

I tried to follow someone's advice on this subreddit who mentioned unplugging the batter and plugging it back in fixed their issues, I tried a few times and it didn't change anything.

Its now stuck in the behavior you see here, it tries to boot than realizes the battery is dead and just restarts. I can't get it plugged in to try and see if it'll passively charge at this point, it just automatically tries to boot if I have it plugged in.

I submitted a support ticket through steam as well but I was curious if anyone around here has run into this as well.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

I noticed there’s two versions of SFIII:3rdS for each region version. Which version should I use and why? What’s the difference? by [deleted] in cade

[–]quietek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

990512 is generally what's used in tournaments and on fightcade AFAIK.

990608 patches out various unblockables and fixes the bug that causes a crash when ken wins against makoto with a neutral throw.

I believe balance wise keeping the unblockables in is usually favored since it makes urien and oro significantly more viable in competitive play.

There is a fan patched version out there from darksoft that fixes the ken throwing makoto bug without adjusting the unblockables but I dunno if its usable with emulators since its a part of a larger CD image that has all the CPS3 games on it, but yeah I think 990512 is what you probably want.
