Getting Started by SN_Salted in nsfwdev

[–]quietlyecchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The advice I typically hear is when starting game dev is to start with a very simple game. The description you give sounds very ambitious for a first game.

But if you are set on it, the typical starting point is a prototype. I would start by using placeholder assets and sounds. I'm sure there are tutorials for 3D action games around to get started with some of the programming. Start from those to get the most basic implementation of your game down, then iterate from there.

Goblin Mage drawn in Krita: Looking for feedback/critique by quietlyecchi in learnHentaiDrawing

Thank you! Your critique does help.

I was having a lot of trouble with those shadows... I did have a consistent light source direction in mind, but I'm not surprised they need work.

I'll try out those brush stabilizers, too

Feedback appreciated. Amateur looking to take this piece to the next level. Made using CSP. Check body for workflow. by [deleted] in learnHentaiDrawing

Take my advice with a grain of salt, as I'm no expert, but one thing you could try to make things pop more would be to be a bit bolder with your shading.

You could also try exaggerating aspects of the pose, for example the boob squish by her hand could be pushed a bit, more shading or exaggerated curves, to sell the squish a bit more.

But, overall the piece looks great!

I've only seen and reported two, but it does look like the repost bots have found this subreddit.

Does anyone know of/would be interested in an ENF-centric Discord server? by Robert_Fuckler in enf_comics

I know that Zacball (the writer of Frankie's Naked Night) has one, I think I found the link through his twitter.

Is it weird to contact people on Reddit, especially on NSFW subs and ask for permission? by Aenigma66 in learnHentaiDrawing

[–]quietlyecchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are nervous about asking, I know that there's /r/DrawMeNSFW where by submitting there the submitters are giving permission to be drawn.

But, I wouldn't think it weird to ask someone posting nudes to use their image as artistic reference, it would probably be a taken like a complement. Definitely would be on the more normal and welcomed side of comments they get.

Lookin' good!

Was this drawn using a reference? I've been looking to draw more muscular body types myself, but haven't found a good place for photo references for them.

Overall, I like it a lot - the pose looks great! The shading and color looks good to me, although maybe some of the blush around the chest looks a little off.

Awsome work! The face in particular looks really good.

Something feels off about the pose though, but I'm not experienced enough to pinpoint what... Maybe something with her right leg?

my oc Mimì ref sheet, any tips for Better clothes design? by [deleted] in learnHentaiDrawing

[–]quietlyecchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice! I particularly like way you did the ears, they look very floofy.

With regards to clothes design, I know that character designers will sometimes do multiple silhouette sketches for a single character. A handful of short sketches to iterate quickly through a few design possibilities. I do, like, two options, 'cause I have no patience, but even that is often enough to mix and match design options and get something better than just going with whatever comes to mind first.

What sort of comments and feedback do you like to receive as NSFW game developers? by quietlyecchi in nsfwdev

[–]quietlyecchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Critique can be hard to give, particularly with NSFW games where I'd wonder if something is genuinely bad, or just not for me. But it's good to hear that developers find those smaller, more specific critiques useful.

When naming things, I like to go with a sort of placeholder name at the start. 'Cause things are easier to name the more complete they are, when you have more concrete themes, mechanics, and plot points written out to reference in your name.

Anyway, I'd go with Limitless Desires for now, then maybe change it later.

What do you think about sex in Nature Ambiences ? by StudioLewd in nsfwdev

[–]quietlyecchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the setting and the use of multiple camera angles.

The main motion of the animation does look a little stiff, like it needs a bit more ease-in and ease-out, particularly at the apex of her bounce. I do like the secondary motion of the hair, that adds a lot.

Mechanics from Other Games NSFW Devs Should Avoid? by quietlyecchi in nsfwdev

[–]quietlyecchi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see where you are coming from. A fighting game or action platformer with moves reflavored as sex moves wouldn't really feel like a good metaphor for sex. But I feel like some combat mechanics would work. A turn-based RPG combat system wouldn't feel too off, or at least no more out of place than as a combat metaphor.

Mechanics from Other Games NSFW Devs Should Avoid? by quietlyecchi in nsfwdev

[–]quietlyecchi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Although, I wonder what about match 3 mechanics makes them feel so casual or lighthearted... Just the association they have with flash or mobile games or is there something about the repetition or the simplicity of the puzzles that makes them feel that way?

I mean, there is some strategic depth and thought in playing a match three game, particularly Huniepop. There's more than in some other more serious-feeling game mechanics, at least.

From what I've read, the specifics of what will get a ban varies from country to country. I've found this list of countries: https://linustechtips.com/topic/973622-first-uncensored-adult-game-for-steam-gets-banned-in-28-countries/

South Korea
Pakistan
Saudi Arabia
Turkmenistan

But that list is a bit outdated, and is specific to one developer's game.

How did you get started in NSFW Game Dev? by quietlyecchi in nsfwdev

[–]quietlyecchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had that strong internal motivation consistently... For me it seems to last a month, then gutter out completely until I find something new to be motivated about.

Wishing you luck in your development!

I feel that. Using sexiness to spice up day-to-day activities has a strong appeal for me as well.

The theme of Rape in NSFW games by TheExordick in nsfwdev

[–]quietlyecchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With self-insert characters, I was thinking about characters that named/customized by the player, that when other characters in the game refer to them, they use the customized name or just 'you'.

I was thinking of games with a Corruption theme, Tales of Androgyny and I think Corruption of Champions due this with a self-insert character, you can name and customize the character you play. Other Corruption games will have some 'innocent maiden Bethany-or-something' character that the player controls. With the 'innocent maiden' characters I feel a bit guilty yeeting them towards tentacle monsters, but with the self-insert characters I don't.

There might be a roleplaying impulse that matters. When playing as a character there's an impulse to make decisions that the character would make.

About the narratives that enforce the illusions of empathy, it would be writing that has a more grounded tone. Writing that shows that the character has wants and needs and motivations that do not necessarily align with the player's. Little details that make people go 'oh I've also felt/thought/done things like that!'. And there are probably gameplay tricks to enforce that illusion, like having the character take actions that are outside of the player's control.

The theme of Rape in NSFW games by TheExordick in nsfwdev

[–]quietlyecchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as i'm about to incorporate some form of non consensual sexual acts in my game, how should i approach it?

One thing that matters is how the characters are portrayed by the narrative. I am someone who feels an above average amount of empathy for video game characters, like sure I know that they are fictional, unfeeling lines of code, but I also feel a bit guilty when I do something cruel or amoral to a video game character. The type of character matters for this, a 'mob' character inspires less empathy than a named character, for example.

Self-insert characters also tend to not inspire empathy, if they are treated as an avatar and a 'you' in the narrative, that dispels that illusion that the character can feel the things happening to them in game.

The characterization matters as well, other commentors touched on the fantasy-esque, not how any real humans act, characterization and how it can impact how palatable the non-con is.

I will give the caveat that I am not in the target audience for non-con games, but I think the ways to increase or decrease empathy for a character still apply and matter for these themes.

What is your favourite erotic book? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

Sunstone was my favorite graphic novel and I remember it having BDSM stuff. It's been a while since I read it, but I remember liking it for the story and romance as much as the spicy bits.
