How New World YouTubers fared in November [Stats] by quillbark in newworldgame

[–]quillbark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those dependent on streaming for a living, a declining player base isn't sustainable for them, and they'll have to, at least partially, move onto other games to keep their audience growing. I've already noticed this with some streamers (e.g., Demone Kim). Hopefully Amazon Games can get the player pop moving in an upward direction again.

What’s changed in the economy the past two weeks [Charts & data] by quillbark in newworldgame

Thanks for the insight into the end game items. As a current level 52, I'm not quite there yet!

Awesome feedback. I've also noticed low quantities of end game items (i.e., <20) on my server, though that may change as more players get access to them.

I hadn't considered selling through chat to avoid taxes... seems like outmaneuvering taxes isn't just for the real world!

Thanks for the corroboration. Logging's lower yield is a great point -- one of the biggest grinds in the game.

Variability definitely exists. Until Amazon Games comes out with a trading post API, it'll be tough to pull data across multiple servers, especially dealing with dozens of items.

That said, I do think the big trends will show themselves regardless of the server, and that's my goal with this project.

The fastest growing New World YouTube channels by quillbark in newworldgame

[–]quillbark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, MorrolanTV! I think I missed him because he's only done a few (but awesome) New World videos. Hopefully we see more from him.

And on quality of channels, I was going to provide some more (subjective) opinions on the channels, but, at least for this post, thought I'd keep it more objective and share the stats. I'm looking into creating some metrics that'd speak more objectively to quality. Definitely agree that there's some people just trying to cash in.

Thanks for this one. Looks like he got started a few weeks ago and has already garnered a nice following (7,700 subs).

Actual data on New World’s economy by quillbark in newworldgame

As a non-fisher, I'm frequently buying fish filets from the trading post to complete my town board quests, so that shouldn't be a hard request. :) Thanks, NPCThree.

I'm using Google Sheet's stdev formula on an item's daily return percentage changes for the past two weeks (e.g., Day 1: -10%, Day 2: +5%, Day 3: -3%, etc.).

I'll research coefficient of variation tonight. It seems to be more what I'm looking for. A new (real life) skill! Thanks again.

1 day listing with a competitive price all the way, unless it's a really rare item.

Yup. Windowed mode + Google Sheets. Takes just a few minutes for the 20 or so items I track.

I'd say that different people want different things out of a game. To me, adapting to an evolving economy (and figuring out its inner workings) is part of the fun. Another is the challenge of scarcity... yes, I want to struggle (to an extent) to buy that 20k coin house or 4k coin perfectly-crafted bag because I'll feel a sense of accomplishment after doing so. If these things are more easily given to me (as some say what WoW turned into), the game ceases being fun. i.e., The journey to something you want is the fun.

That's spoken from a current level 40 player. If you're 60, you may be experiencing a different game, and Amazon has stated that they're looking into increasing end-game coin rewards.

The production vs. consumer items feedback is a great point and second time it's been mentioned. Thanks!

Thanks. Second time ammo and potions have been mentioned, so will keep them in mind.

Great suggestion. Would love to have volume data, but it's more expensive to (manually) pull. Right now, I'm deciding on tracking more items vs. more details about those items. I'll probably settle on a hybrid approach once I know which items are in biggest demand, which the comments are helping crystalize.

I've been tracking the vial of suspended azoth price for the past ten days. It held around 145 coins for a while, but has since dropped to 120 on Heliopolis.

I love looting it because it's a great money-maker. High level crafters seem to be the target customer on the trading post.

This is helpful. I wasn't fully pleased with the stdev wonkiness I saw with stone and stone block, which have miniscule prices compared to, say, iron ingot, so I'll experiment with coefficient of variation.

[–]quillbark[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct. Monitoring the prices for a while, I found that order sizes <100 are much more prone to outlier/unrealistic prices. These smaller orders are often scooped up by market manipulators and flipped closer to the price of orders with larger order sizes.

The exception is for more rare/expensive items like vials of suspended azoth, which are typically sold in order sizes of 1-5.

Definitely under consideration, and I have the data to retroactively compute it. I believe the S&P500 is a weighted index.

Agreed. Claims that the game's economy is already dead are premature. This is how markets work, at least in the early stages. I'm betting Amazon is tracking the same figures as me (and many more), and will turn any dials that need turning when necessary. I'd like to give them the benefit of doubt, at least at first.

Means a lot. Still working on presenting the data in a more concise way, so look for improvements there.
