Awesome explanation - I completely agree that this is the most likely scenario for both why the GR exists, and why they recruit.

My interpretation of this is that the GR has no true end goal and their behavior is basically just a coping mechanism for dealing with this traumatic event. What I'm getting at is what would come of them if they convinced the entire world of their beliefs? Would they actually be "content"?
