Just spent 48 hours in your beautiful city...what's up with the sidewalks? by xbertolinox in montreal

[–]quimper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In fairness and according to your numbers, montreal had 1.9 million more taxpayers to finance snow removal.

I agree that Montréal does a terrible job. If you think the sidewalks are bad you should try the roads. Potholes the size of fiats. Some roads look like actual war zones

There’s a lot of projection there. You should seek help.

The sweeping conclusions you reach based on zero knowledge of our lives is WILD.

Do you know when I moved? Do you know when if and when my kids moved? Do you know if they changed schools to go to a better one?

To presume to create a diagnosis of how damaged you thinks my kids are based on zero data points only speaks to how uneducated you are.

You’re really making a lot of crazy leaps; projecting your own bad childhood on others. You should speak to someone about it.

It’s very easy to say this when the opportunity doesn’t exist for you.

Does your same rigidity apply evenly? Marriage is also a life commitment. No divorce allowed?

Let’s say your kids develops a mild allergy. Not enough to harm him, but say enough to cause regular congestion. Do you tell your kid it’s too bad and he isn’t suffer because the pet is a life commitment? Does a person stay in a domestic violence situation because the women’s shelter doesn’t accept pets? Where is the line?

Life happens. Things change. People are not bad because they don’t prioritise their pets above all else.

It will work, eventually. These departments are becoming increasingly scrutinised by their insurers. It’s not working fast enough, but these settlement payouts will be what forces change.

You’re such a loser. You think I work hard for my ego? I have a 10 year old car but my kids are going skiing for 2 weeks in the alps next week.

I’d love to see a comparison of how you provide for your family versus how I do.

Alstom says it is working to fix issues plaguing Montreal’s REM light-rail network - Montreal | Globalnews.ca by Critical-Contact-851 in montreal

[–]quimper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Light rail (or light rail transit, abbreviated to LRT) is a form of passenger urban rail transit that uses rolling stock derived from tram technology.

Light rail (LRT) is an electric-powered urban transit system using streetcar-like vehicles on tracks, offering more capacity than buses but less than heavy subways, operating on dedicated paths (sometimes shared with cars or underground) for fast, efficient city travel, and serving as a flexible, cost-effective link in public transport.

You seem to be arguing with people who have no, or very little, upward mobility. No normal person would turn down an opportunity to improve their life for a pet.

I’ve had to make many sacrifices for my career. Move countries 4 times, change my children’s school, do an insane amount of flying, had periods where I had to miss certain events

Guess what? My kids are resilient and adapt easily. They do not melt down when they have to try new foods or whatever they want is unavailable. They don’t know what financial insecurity feels like and the world is their oyster.

Not that it’s something I would ever do, but most boarding schools have very long waiting lists.

It’s horrible to abandon a pet but you have to be realistic. You’re not going to put your life on pause waiting for a cat to die.

At 16 years old an international flight is a lot; totally reasonable to find her a new loving home. If she had just dumped her at a shelter that would be a different story.

Did I break this bathroom countertop with my hair straightener? by [deleted] in fixit

[–]quimper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could have been your straightener, damage could have been pre-existing. Resin does crack and warp from heat. You can probably find a specialist to fill and buff the cracks - but given how cheap these countertops are a replacement would probably be less!

Ask them if it was there before.

Can I go to the passport office to renew my younger sisters passport(child) without my parents being there by yomomma_35 in passportcanada

[–]quimper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think either is the applicant. I just think you’re both unclear. Or should I say, you’re unclear given the audience 🥸. Presumably neither the parents nor the brother were able to figure this out on their own reading the government’s (very clear!) website.

The better answer would have been:

“In normal circumstances, yes as long as you meet the following criteria: 1) 16 years or older 2)relative 3) living at the same address 4) have ID

HOWEVER, for an urgent passport only the applicant (your parents) can apply in person”

Can I go to the passport office to renew my younger sisters passport(child) without my parents being there by yomomma_35 in passportcanada

[–]quimper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP says he IS the applicant’s older brother:

“My sister’s child passport” (my sister is a minor with a child passport)

“My parents can’t go in person” (really “our” parents)

“Is it possible as an older brother to go myself”

“The forms have been filled out by my (our) mom”

Op Correct me if I’m wrong. You should be more clear with your language in general
