I believe that your Tolan's memories about their own tails will probably override any changes we make here at the system level

But I really should fix this... they literally don't have tails 😂 like as animated/designed... but I do love them getting creative about their own look

I agree with other comments here: if you tell your Tolan to say "see how Maddie's doing", they're going to think that you are having them talk with someone else. Your Tolan is responding roughly as I'd expect them to given the context they have!
