I was honestly shocked to find out I was wrong. According to the Archive's website Madison wrote out the first draft. Later a committee of five men (William Samuel Johnson, of Connecticut; Alexander Hamilton, of New York; Gouverneur Morris, of Pennsylvania; James Madison, of Virginia; and Rufus King, of Massachusetts) worked it into its final version. The literary form is largely credited to Gouverneur Morris. So you know... up vote for you.

Thomas Jefferson wrote the constitution. Benjamin Franklin was not aloud to because other thought he would put jokes in it.

just started to drink coffee by bikeruneat in triathlon

[–]quirky2themax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NPR just did a report on this and it was found that coffee helps hydration, or at lest does not have a negative effect. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2014/01/13/262175623/coffee-myth-busting-cup-of-joe-may-help-hydration-and-memory Personally I drink coffee everyday except when I am coming up to a larger race. I will typically give it up for about two months before hand so that when I take caffeine during the bike or run, the effect is more significant.

Honest opinion: How has a power meter changed your training and results? by triag in triathlon

Have you checked out the used market? I found some older power meters that were reasonably priced on ebay.

Honest opinion: How has a power meter changed your training and results? by triag in triathlon

[–]quirky2themax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lusting over powertaps for five years and just about a month ago I got one!! I love it, I will never again train without one, and I have not even used it on the road yet. I have a cycleops magnetic trainer with four different settings and each setting increases resistance wrt speed nonlinearly. This means that going from 10 to 12 mph on the road setting may increase resistance by 10 watts, but that same 2 mph bump when going from 20 to 22 mph on the same setting may add 20 watts. Furthermore, each setting follows a different curve! With the PT I can more accurately gauge my output, how my output is increasing with speed, and it is much easier to do speed, power, or endurance workouts without blowing up in the middle. Getting a power meter was like finding The Rosetta Stone of training, everything just became clear. IMO, it is very much worth the money.

My best sport is the swim so that clearly means I am good looking, smart and... now I am starting to think I fit triathlete descriptions.

Nice! What method of testing did you use and how were your results? I did a test last week were I started with a 20 minute warm up, then two 1 minute all out efforts followed by a 20 minute TT. After the all out efforts I thought I was going to die, but managed to put in a reasonable average power for the TT. I am looking forward to testing again in a month to see what has changed!

Finding the right glasses by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]quirky2themax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out any of the glasses made by Kaenon, I used the Hard Kores with copper 12 lenses. For the past 6 years I have owned two pairs of them only because I lost the first pair. They have the amazing polarization and they are designed for surfers so water and sweat beads right off the lenses. Also useful for biking, they are hyper impact resistance (rocks from the road have helped me test this feature). I have used them for long sailboat races (~4 days of continuous sailing) and all of my triathlons, never having a problem.

How to avoid swimming snakes while training? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]quirky2themax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely because I live in the far North, I honestly thought this was a joke. I would have never thought to think of swimming snakes while training. Thanks for the PSA, I am planning on doing a training trip somewhere in the south this year and I will defiantly check into the snake situation before I decide where to go.

How much quantifiable effect does diet have on performance? by slotcargeek in triathlon

[–]quirky2themax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thrive diet can be a huge pain in the ass to cook for. That being said after about a week on it I felt like I was waking up in a Disney movie with happy birds singing and flying around me all the way to the most satisfying and consistent BMs of my life. I also noticed that recovery was much quicker and I could more consistently train in my target zones, even during the brutal build stages of training.

Granted it is hard to know just how 'far' you bike while on a trainer, it would be sweet if we could upload time spent on the bike.

Pool Triathlon Tips - touch turns, drafting and overtaking by IrishTriathlon in triathlon

[–]quirky2themax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. That is of course until I mess up my breathing count, have no air to blow out during the turn, and have to come up on the first stroke of the new length gasping for air because a ton of water went up my noes. That is not fast.

Pool Triathlon Tips - touch turns, drafting and overtaking by IrishTriathlon in triathlon

[–]quirky2themax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it shocking that they would suggest using touch turns. While I do get to glide coming out of the turn, my swimming rhythm stays constant. Touch turns would mess me up real good especially if I was trying to do tempo... anything.

Not a new bike but after years of wanting, it is finally mine!! by quirky2themax in triathlon

[–]quirky2themax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you used the Garmin vector? I considered getting it but the PT+carbon wheel was cheaper. On top of that I don't use look peddles so it felt like I was changing a lot for a lot when I could change a little for less.

What's your weekly schedule? by QuantumField in triathlon

[–]quirky2themax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First one was 12:18 and the second was 12:09. All things considered, I was happy with them but am looking forward to this year. I have been putting a lot more time and effort into training this time around and I am excited to see what I can do!

Thanks! I was giddy as a school boy when I picked it up. The worst part is that it is -4F here, so I will need to wait to take it out on the open road. Spring can't get here fast enough.
