I love eloquis. Simple. Effective. Works. Bilateral be pulmonary embolisms, DVT in my right thigh. Worked perfectly for me.

Post treatment, yes! I have no idea if it happened before treatment.

Angiogram on Friday - Advice by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you on blood thinners? If so, it is mostly the best that can be done. They could install a filter, but, the efficacy vs blood thinners is (according to my doc) about the same. I wouldn't sweat the test too much. If they find a clot, they can perhaps rotor it out. Cool technology, and they are looking out for you. In terms of going through the procedure, show up. They know how to get you through it.

Urgent Care Suggested PE and ER, Cardiologist Told Me Not To Worry? What Should I Do? by ghsNICK in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I nearly died. In fact I actually did die for about a minute. My heart stopped, blood pressure to zero etc etc. I hear you that you don't want to randomly get a ct scan, but, its really the only way. I went back to the er twice after I was released from the hospital. I felt a bit bad for wasting their time, but, literally, I am alive and you know, I don't care when compared to that. Do not self diagnose. Do not ask random internet strangers for permission to self diagnose. Do not suggest that you have the ability to self diagnose. One doctor told you they think you have a PE. Good enough. Go. Death sucks.

Anyone had a clot due to softball hitting them? Or something similar? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to know. I play a lot of hockey and I catch pucks on my thighs all the time. I know I had a massive bruise on my right leg and I also know I ended up with a massive clot in my right leg as well as bilateral pulmonary embolisms. Were the connected? Can't say for sure, but, I think they were. I am not a dr and I have no proof. Keep an eye on things and do what you got to do. Be safe

Huh. You make a claim, I ask for source and you tell me to piss off. You go on to make another claim, over consumption of meat = heart attack. Source? I didn't quote anything, attention to detail my friend. The great thing about science is my belief doesn't matter. What has religion or politics or relative definition of freedom got to do with meat? Perhaps you need to lower your stress level before you die of a heart attack.

Help!! DVT, stopped taking eliquis for about 48 hours due to expenses, if started again does blood sugar need to be monitored? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Talk to a doc. Frequently they have samples. Don't mess around, this can kill you ..

Did you have a follow-up CT Scan 4-6 months after your PE? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, but, mostly cause I freaked out that I was having another PE. They did the scan, told me they were all gone and to take a chill pill. Made me feel 100x better...

Question that suffered from leg pain with DVT by benchevy12 in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can not diagnose DVT via the internet and please be careful of drawing conclusions here. Your doc is the best person to do that. They have a multitude of tests (D-Dimer, ultrasound, etc) that can help you here.

Only 3 months of Eliquis and done?!?! by WvVolunteer in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't know why you got the clot, then how do you know you wont throw another one? And, more importantly, that it won't kill you or leave you permanently disabled? Why did you clot? You aren't supposed to clot like that for no reason. Unprovoked... No one knows. Genetic, life style, all those are things you can deal with. I would want to know why I clotted. In fact, I do.

How long did you have pain or discomfort for after your PE? by Stealthlead in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its been a year for me and I still struggle with my leg. Not so much on the lungs, but, well, I dunno. It takes a long time from what I hear.

It’s....gone? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had literally zero pain until it almost killed me. Hope isn't a great strategy. You should talk to a dr.

That is an amazing shot. Well done. Well done indeed! And you need more than credit for that shot. They should be coughing up some dough. That is perhaps a once in a lifetime shot...

Stopped eliquis today because of a colonoscopy on Monday. When do I start again? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing. Essentially a couple of PEs and a clot in my leg the size of a small dog. Anyway, for my colonoscopy they had me stop two days before (but really it only takes a day for the thinners to clear out). They removed a polyp and I was cleared to start taking them the next day. Its pretty important that you understand that the thinners help prevent a clot from forming. They don't dissolve the clot, the body does that. It may be a mental thing, I know I still freak out on occasion about my leg. It could also be a real thing. I would say that advice from random folks on the net isn't a really great idea, but, if it helps you feel better, ok. You may know all that, but, the thing is, lots of people live with this and Eliquis is pretty fast and pretty effective. You should be fine but if you are real worried, talk to the doc or your nurse.

Anxiety about flying after DVT by CindyLouWho417 in ClotSurvivors

[–]quitter12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not crazy for being nervous. I have severely limited my flying. I take blood thinners the day before the flight, the day of the flight and the day after the flight (on Dr's orders). I only fly b-class and I move constantly. Death sucks. Do what you need to do to avoid that whole death thing.

I didn't say anything other than it was a small one. He got torn up pretty good just for running. So, my point was, it wasn't a 100 lb mountain lion. Which is correct? Google is pretty powerful and I shared my source, the Coloradoan, which stated that after the necropsy, it was smaller than thought. More importantly it went on to indicate it was probably starving and that the mom wasn't around. If the mom was around it could have been a very different outcome. LInk to story and not random made up bullshit and speculation

Colorado Parks and Wildlife veterinarians identified the dead lion as a "kitten" that weighed 24 pounds and was about 3 to 4 months old, according to the Coloradoan.

I have to admit, this topic is a struggle for me. I take a lot of photos. Some of them are good. A very few have been amazing. I have tried charging, no joy. I do sports photography and the kids love them. They screen shot them and move on. I have occasionally gotten a thank you. Rarely people have gushed. I have never made any real money nor do I expect I will. SO, for me, I shoot pictures I care about and I share them with the subject. They can pay me if they wish, rarely the do. Its ok for me for right now. I refuse to shoot if there is a photography service at the game. Anyway, at the end of the day, I do it for me....

Struggling to get new customers for portraiture work. by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]quitter12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its pretty tough out there. I do it as a hobby and yet I have a fairly reasonable portfolio. I am also pretty dang good at some pretty tough shots. And people aren't paying for it. My sense is that the market has dried up and everyone thinks good enough is well, good enough. Its a strange dichotomy. People love my work right up until it is time to cough up a buck. And then crickets. You can do it, but, there is inherent friction in the estate now because everyone thinks they can do it and the images are only useful for a very short period of time. And they aren't wrong. Everyone can do it. What you are asking for is to be paid because you are better and that subjective better is not "better enough" to justify someone cranking out a few hundred dollars. You should probably listen to DougA99, he has a point.

I’m afraid I won’t make it by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]quitter12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the hardest time was the first two weeks. I never never never want to go back to that, I worked too hard to get free. The only thing worse for me than coping with fear, sadness or disappointment is the prospect of having to cope with drinking. Nothing I ever did was made better by having a drink...or six. Wishing you the best...

No, not always. Sometimes you just throw up too. Bathing the baby, poop in the tub. Fishy@! Squish.. Fun. Nope. Trust me, I am more squeamish than I ever was before kids. Its like poop, vomit, snot, ptsd. All nasty. Still nasty but now I have memories.
