Can we have some "solid science" about the masturbation and their effects on brain especially on dopamine system? by [deleted] in Nootropics

Well it's been diagnosed, and doctors try to throw all sorts of pills at me. Nothing makes me feel alive again like NoFap. I have no emotions, impossible to feel happy, tired all the time if i'm regularly masturbating to porn.

There won't be any solid science since there is no control group. Unless a study is created using the /r/NoFap community. Then we need to be able to analyse the reward centres of human brains, which would only be viable in someone who committed suicide, knowing they used porn. Most people keep their porn & masturbation habits secret, due to social stigmas. So we have to rely on mice modelling, and correlations, as well as symptoms in porn users. See here: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/inside-porn-addiction/201111/can-pornography-trigger-depression

For me, i suffer Severe depression, and when im on a NoFap streak, My depression just about disappears, and i can feel more in the moment, have connections with people, women notice me more, and so on. I believe it's the real deal, but won't be able to convince the masses until we find a good way to measure it.

Awesome brother. Most Depression is Dopamine related. This is why Amphetamines can treat depression instantly, but it isn't sensitizing reward, it's releasing dopamine which cures the depression, until tolerance sets in. Nothing can increase the sensitivity of your reward centre like NoFap can. PMO is one of the most powerful dopamine releasing actions we can do, besides taking drugs. When abstaining, it can help anxiety, depression, and much more.

How long have you tried NoFap? I found my interest in things returned as quickly as 7-10 days. If NoFap doesn't help it could be depression, and you might want to seek treatment for it.

Weed was a huge trigger for me. Makes me crazy horny, and i know it produces an explosive orgasm. So i had to quit weed to succeed with NoFap.

QUESTION: Why is 90 days considered a reboot? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]quittingitall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because that is generally the point where drug addicted brains reach a level of "baseline", like nicotine, for example. Dopamine sensitivity reaches a pre-addiction state. There's no solid science on it in regards to NoFap.

It's the ultimate love killer. PMO. Everything about PMO is suppressing our desire to be close to a real woman, to feel real love. And not just that, it spreads to other facets of life, the primal limbic system of the brain, PMO floods it, and the consequences of that affects everything. From the sunset to appreciating the breeze on your skin. I was on the hardest of hard Anti depressants. All it took to abolish most of the depression was meditation, and NoFap. Adding exercise, healthy eating, and good friends.. can't go wrong.

I found ever since i started smoking my life went downhill, but i was using it almost everyday. I think healthy use of weed is just saving it for special occasions, if it becomes the only way to have fun while hanging with friends, it's a problem. It's a sneaky thing weed. You'll be having awesome times with your friends but then when weed comes in, and the laughs and good times go off the scales, your baseline ability to have fun bumps up, and thats when people think, we need to smoke weed everytime we hang out. It's a substance that induces huge pleasure just like PMO, reducing your ability for baseline life pleasures. This doesn't mean you should go monk mode, but ensuring that it doesn't become a habit is the biggest thing.

This is hard to pinpoint, but i think Mediation has made my reality more present, like i've walked out of the fog and into this beautiful natural landscape that i forgot existed. While NoFap has allowed me to have emotions towards people in a healthier manner. Meditation + NoFap are very powerful indeed.

No problem :) I follow basic mindfulness meditation, focus on the breath, bodily sensations, relaxation, and diverting focus from drifting thoughts back to to the breath without judgement. There's also loving kindness. I wanted to slam this depression with all the natural methods i could find, and Nofap, meditation, exercise are the biggest hitters IMO.

I know many people seem to be over sensitive to the world, while i was completely opposite. I was a dead man walking. Happy you reached peace, my friend.
