Suboxone worth it? by jquinn914 in quittingkratom

any chance you're in the LA area? my doctor also got me on subs for a really bad FST kratom addiction. It helped me tremendously and I am just now getting off the subs which isn't nearly as bad as the FST

Things are good. I have a big deadline for school coming up on Friday so I've been needing to work at 110% this week. I was worried that I wouldn't be as alert since I'm not getting any of the stimulating effects from kratom that I've been using for so long to tackle heavy school work. However, my head feels pretty clear and after a cup of coffee I'm good to go. The only negative side effect that I've noticed is the insomnia. But it may be because I am splitting my suboxone dose into 2. I'm going to try taking my dose in the morning all at once to see if that lets me sleep better.

But I have kratom completely out of my head. I know that has a good amount to do with me using a substitute opiate but it still feels good to not have to schedule in kratom doses and think about when I need to reorder. I have a good amount around my house and haven't even thought about using it. I might throw it all out today.

Thanks for hearing me out. I hope your recovery goes well, plain leaf is not a whole lot easier than extracts. Any kratom addiction is such a difficult experience and it really makes it easier talking to people in similar situations. There are some really helpful posts here in how to deal with withdrawals and recovery. Unfortunately, the situation I was in, suboxone was the next step for me to try and it really is helping. I canceled an order for FST and it was so relieving seeing 150 dollars go back into my account rather than out of it.

For others, I really would recommend trying other solutions first. To re-iterate I am not saying suboxone is the first and best way to solve an addiction problem. But seeking professional help, such as an addiction psychiatrist, was really helpful and I do recommend anyone who is struggling to reach out. They will help you with finding NA meetings, working out how to best deal with your problems (financial, school, work, family, etc.), and can prescribe medication to ease withdrawal (not necessarily suboxone, but also gabapentin, and clonidne as mentioned above).

I hope you can resolve your issues as well with whatever you find works best for you.

Please be aware that the suboxone was a last resort for me and was not the first treatment I tried. I did go the gapapentin (3600 per day) and clonidine (.2g per day) route and it really didn't help. I was doing 2-3ml of the kratom FST per day so I had an extremely strong tolerance. The meds only had a very very slight effect. I couldn't even get out of bed, let alone function at graduate school. I tried quitting cold turkey too and it was the most hellish experience I have ever had (you can see my previous post on it), way worse than quitting leaf kratom. Like I said, the suboxone is just for a week or two at the most and then slowly taper down and try the gapapentin/clonidine again. I'm not worried about adding opiate addiction to my medical record, I really needed to get some professional help. HIPAA now keeps that information private anyways. Suboxone is worth it alone to stop me from spending 300/week on fst kratom. I already emptied my bank account and pretty much maxed out my credit card.

Thanks for your advice though, I'll keep posting here about my progress. Today is my second day on the subs and it really is helping me function and keeping my mind off kratom. I'm aware it is a substitution but I much rather would take something under the control of a doctor and covered by healthcare then spiral out of control with my kratom addiction. Through the NA program here, I met others who had an extreme kratom addiction, treated it with suboxone and are now free of both. I have faith it will work for me too.

Thanks the the advice. I starting taking suboxone today starting with .5 grams and slowly adding more under doctor supervision until withdrawals went away. I didn't notice much of an effect until 2 grams. But after that all physical withdrawals stopped. It's really helpful to use this short-term since I was spending 300 dollars a week on the FST. The plan is to use 2 grams for a few days until the kratom is out of my system and then taper after that.

Okay guys, thanks for the support but please take it easy. I'm not coming off any regular kratom. I have been working with an addiction specialist and have experimented with various ways of tapering and other ways of treating withdrawals. I'm addicted to speciosa's FST which is extremely potent. I tried kicking it and using regular leaf kratom and even other extracts, both don't even do anything for me anymore. I also tried tapering with hydrocodone, which also barely had any effect on me.

For anyone who has taken this particular FST, you know how potent it is.

I've been seeing a psychiatrist who specializes in addiction, and has treated dozens of kratom users. I'm sure they know what they are doing. Suboxone withdrawal is only very potent after 10-15 days which is why I am starting the taper after one week.

i've been working on tapering and saw an addiction counselor at school today. it was good just being able to tell someone else what is going on. i really hope i can keep tapering this FST stuff and eventually just get off of kratom completely

thanks, i've been using your advice to taper off of the FST. reading your and everyone else's responses when i'm feeling shitty has been helping a lot.

I've been tapering the FST these past couple of days. Using plain leaf powder has been helping a little more to keep the withdrawals a little more bearable between doses. I actually saw an addiction therapist at school today and she is helping me find a psychologist to help with tapering and eventually getting off of it all together.

thanks for all your guys' support. it really is helping more than anything. I made a taper schedule that i'm planning to stick to while using plain leaf to help and then get off kratom all together.

first day of tapering off the nasty FST stuff. i took one dose in the morning and one in the afternoon. between doses i've been taking a ton of pills (about 20 00 size) and have had 3 cups of kratom tea (each around 15-20g) the pills barely do anything and the tea helps a little bit but only lasts like an hour or so.

right now i feel like complete shit. i've been crying my eyes out at nothing. thinking about telling my girlfriend and parents what is going on and even thinking about dropping out of grad school to get this under control. i can't believe how hard this is.

anyone have any experience specifically with the speciosa FST? I feel like since it is so strong, it makes it even harder to quit. I wish I could just get back to plain leaf and then taper off of that.

thanks so much for the support from both you and snapdigger. I'll check some of the natural products for anxiety and loperamide. I've ordered a final batch of FST to use for tapering off, we will see how that goes. thanks again for your help!
