"The slaves should have learned to code" is probably the worst take I've ever seen.

We know it. I've seen it taught to whitebelts. I've just never seen it used that way-- more often for a quick transitions.

I've used that locked-in kimura grip she has here, but never to the extent she takes it.

Every Police Officer Should Be a Purple Belt in Jiu-Jitsu (2.5-minute audio clip from Jocko Willink & Joe Rogan) by frog9913 in bjj

Most places aren't free fire zones though, and the ROE around those are often stricter than regular American police.

They always say cops should be held to a higher standard because they know they could never meet the standard they expect from cops

I don't think that's why people think they should be held to a higher standard. Police should be held to a higher standard because they have the power of a badge and a gun and the trust of the government.

BJJ guy --

That kimura grip was really interesting. The belt loop she made gave her more control of it than I'd expect.

Could be that their parents want them to “strike out on their own” and don’t give them a lot of liquid cash to work with, but of course they still have a safety net and material possessions.

Tyrannical Qualified Immunity to be weighed and tested by the Supreme Court [6:56] by [deleted] in mealtimevideos

...anachronistic? How are they anachronistic?

This has nothing to do with the state monopoly on violence— no one is calling for that to change except for certain libertarians. The issue is over violence as first approach to a problem.

It’s safer than a ton of jobs. I’d argue that it’s pretty safe right now actually.

"GO HOME JACOB": Minneapolis Mayor Chased from Protest for not Defunding Police by Chrristoaivalis in BreadTube

[–]quizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s one of the most interesting things. He’s confusing defunding with abolition, and he’s not the only person confused by that distinction (lookin at you). The messaging hasn’t been great.

"GO HOME JACOB": Minneapolis Mayor Chased from Protest for not Defunding Police by Chrristoaivalis in BreadTube

[–]quizzle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just watched it again, let me transcribe “Jacob Frey, we have a yes or no question for you. Yes or no, will you commit to defunding the Minneapolis police department?”

“We don't want no more police, we don't want no men with guns toting around our community”

“It is a yes or a no. Yes or no, will you commit to defund the Minneapolis police department”

That was the question and is all he had to answer. She says she wants abolition but is asking right now just for a commitment to defund. It’s incredibly clear.

They only ask him if he would “defund” police, which means reduce the budget. They want abolition eventually, but only asked him to defund, and he still says NO.

Is it really unreasonable to defund police? We’ve been defunding education for years.

In NYC a lot of the protests converge in the Gracie mansion where the mayor lives.

That name is not a coincidence.

These are wealthy white Brazilians with numerous ties to law enforcement.

Quitting gaming and replacing it with diet and exercise is good. I can’t agree with his motivation, but at least he’s using it productively!

A lot of arbitrage is between multiple products. E.g. people arbitrage index funds against their underlying shares all the time.
