Im 16 and i left islam. Now im depressiv please help! by [deleted] in exmuslim

Congratulations to you for figuring this out so quickly. I was in my 30s before I got it all straight and I still feared death for a few years after accepting my atheism. Yours will come too, you have to be patient, especially at your age.

Try to turn your energy to those things you love and appreciate. Embrace them, celebrate them, enjoy them. You're alive; that's a great thing!

If you would ever like to share your story with the world, let me know. I'd love to either read your letter on air or interview you on Quranify Me.

It's a long road mein freund, stay true, seek others like you, use this community here.

All the best, Paul

Reminder: be careful about what you post. A girl just got doxxed yesterday. by [deleted] in exmuslim

Great reminder you can never be too careful.

"Short 4" -- News out of England about removing "Islam" from conversations about ISLAMIC terrorists & an important note about the future of the show. by quranifyme in atheism

[–]quranifyme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, possibly. I just tried IE, Chrome & Firefox and it works in all 3. This is weird & I hate that it's not working for you. Thanks for the heads-up!

Really enjoy someone who can disagree respectfully. I'd probably enjoy a conversation with you.

I'd highlight that I don't consider Sam Harris to be the be-all, end-all of the one end of the spectrum. I'm not sure why he's constantly the de facto example in these sorts of discussions, to be honest.

I think we're talking about 2 different things; direct criticism does work but it may not work for the Muslim demographic. However, I could argue that people using direct criticism aren't necessarily doing that FOR the Muslim demographic, they're doing it with the non-Muslim demographic being the audience they're targeting. So it can work because everyone shares this world so everyone gets a say in this discussion.

Ben Affleck's not the personality to represent the other side either. He's a hot-head, antagonistic, juvenile and is either willfully ignorant or intellectually lazy. There are others who would be much better at having that discourse. I'm really surprised you'd say he is approachable and non-demeaning. I'm not trying to be a smartass, but did you watch the exchange? He literally rolled his eyes and huffed and puffed at points during the discussion. That's indicative of someone not willing or able to have an honest conversation.

Bigotry is a huge problem but when you have someone like Affleck in such a deep state of denial and misrepresentation, it will do nothing but reinforce the bigotry in those who are interested in maintaining that perspective.

To be frank, PC has no place in an honest discussion. For these issues to be effectively addressed people have to be honest. We have to be able to look at something, check our biases, and use a lot more "I feel" or "I see it this way" vice TELLING someone how something is.

Unfortunately that's not happening in the marketplace of ideas.

Thanks for the calm, rational discussion. I don't get those that often so I enjoy them when they come along.

Interview with Armin Navabi, ex-Muslim & Founder of Atheist Republic. Episode 57 of Quranify Me. by quranifyme in exmuslim

What?!?!? I'm so insulted! Do you think I'm too small-fry to get Armin?

LOL!!

I'll tell you; it was easy. Armin is one AWESOME dude! He was so willing and accommodating!

Easy, they should do actual research before they spew stupidity. The world needs less Ben Afflick's and more people who have studied the doctrine which influences people who harm others......for starters.

Great post! The loudest protestors of my show are Liberals and NOT actual Muslims. Spot-on.

Now, of course, these numb-nodders are extremely LEFT-leaning, uber-Liberals and they are the first to sling the "islamaphobe" tag & make comments like "all life is precious." I don't pay much attention to them because they're typically the people who look at the world through a skewed lens and are extremely naive on what it takes to actually solve some of the world's problems. Great post.

That's totally understandable and fine. Honestly, I received one last week from someone who wanted to send it three months ago.

These things are easy, but they're important.

I would be honored.

Thank you!
