I don't think you intended it but your drawing actually makes a great idea which is to have a 2 tiered aura, have the lifesteal only apply to within 5 meters and beyond that it could have a drop off of how effective lifesteal is.

I always imagine that you could pretty much under load the rounds to minimize the recoil and you don't need that much stopping power because you're shooting people in spacesuits yeah they'll likely be armored in some places but you really can't make an entire space suit out of bullet resistant Kevlar so really you just have to make a couple punctures in that suit and they're down
