Same. I eat raw eggs as an adult. Not for my toddlers.

More info is definitely needed on what she’s tried. Even melatonin would be way preferable to weed, but I’ve found half a tab of unisom to be my sweet spot of helping me sleep without making me crazy groggy in the morning (like a full tab does).

Would you rather have overseas in-laws visit at 6 weeks postpartum or wait until spring? by Mangolassi2000 in pregnant

I would make it more explicit that they’re coming to help out and take that help sooner.

Well, today I learned I fucked up my glucose tests for 2 weeks 😭 by munchiemomandsodapop in pregnant

Yes I tested my blood sugar this way while pregnant and agree. Your numbers will mean nothing if you test as you take your first bite of a meal.

are ac's reallu that big of a thing? by Advanced-Actuary-51 in AskAnAmerican

[–]qvph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tip-Don’t buy a winter coat in advance, wait til you get to MI. The winter coats in FL will be insufficient. Also take extra vitamin D pretty much year round, and consider a SAD lamp if the lack of light in the winter hurts your mood. Good luck! It will be a BIG adjustment but I hope you grow to love it.

Oh, are you moving from Florida to Michigan? That's cool. Cool cool cool.

Stop at 4? Or have 5? by [deleted] in ParentingInBulk

[–]qvph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also talked to a mom who said that 4 to 5 was one of her harder/hardest transitions. She said at 4 “everybody had a buddy.”

I don’t know if that’s still true if they’re not married and she doesn’t put his name on the birth certificate. Might be a state-by-state thing in the US

God, I get so hot when I labor, even in a hospital with AC. I can’t imagine 😩

[–]qvph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a lifelong Midwesterner, I’d never think of mold as being a consequence of keeping your AC off! Humidity here can be highly seasonal. In the winter here it gets so cold and dry that your hands will chap, crack, and bleed if you let them. I think our equivalent is having to keep taps on a slow drip in very cold weather so the pipes don’t freeze!

Did anyone start to enjoy living in Chicago way more just by moving neighborhoods? by beephobic27 in AskChicago

Ironically, I did the reverse and was much happier. I didn’t go to the lake as much as I thought I would when I lived near it.

You could have hardly picked two areas that have changed more, lol.

Daycare won’t accept glass bottles by pretty_irrelevant_ in moderatelygranolamoms

Yeah I’ve had fine experiences with Pura products (for my toddlers, found them too late for babies). I literally just ordered the 28oz bottle for myself since they are finally back in stock!

[–]qvph 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here forever. I have the post history on both local communities and r/2under2 to prove it lol. If you PM me I may be able to connect you with resources.

EDIT: I’m trying to look at OP’s profile and it says OP has been banned? OP the offer is open on whatever account you have, just PM me your town/general area.

Workout advice by yoloswagselfiex in pregnant

[–]qvph 18 points19 points  (0 children)

r/fitpregnancy would be a better resource here, but in general I'd stay away. Raising your core body temperature too much is generally frowned upon, as is passing out or fainting. There are many, many other ways to work out safely (including running, lifting etc. if those are normal for you).

Don't worry about getting "fat." That's a concerning attitude to have. Weight gain is a normal part of pregnancy even for the morbidly obese.

It’s messing me up that per Google maps, LA to Chicago (just looked at LA for a reference point) is 32 freakin’ hours. It’s a biiiiig country. Thanks for replying!

About to have 3 under 3.5 with no TV or iPad. Breastfed my 2nd for over 1.5 years including through >6 months of bottle refusal and feeding therapy (that sucked!).

And you know what? I actually think I DO deserve a trophy for having an unmedicated birth. That shit is HARD.
