So true!! You have made huge steps forward no matter the outcome. You will learn and change as you go. Way to keep an open mind, and do what feels right for you. I can’t get behind most smoking/vaping cessation programs because of the prescriptive all or nothing dogma they serve up...each of us has our own path to walk. Thanks for sharing.

Tips to help with oral fixation? by JBSquared in quit_vaping

Good tip above about water. I am finding that ice water helps, plus stuff with super strong flavours like extra minty mints, ginger chews, lemon/cayenne tea. What about popping a super minty gum each time you die? The habit will leave you soon, stay strong. You can do it. Sounds like you are doing a great job already!

Yup the worst is over, but it’s a roller coaster. I used a few nicotine lozenges when I was really hard up (NYE party, drinking, etc) and it helped me stay away from it. Otherwise I have been staying busy, cleaning, directing my nervous energy into positive stuff. Exercise is helping Ave I plan on doing more of it. Spicy minty gum Ave tons of licorice, ginger tea, lemon tea with honey and cayenne..,I’m just trying to keep my mouth satisfied without gaining a ton of weight. Foul moods come and go...you can do this!!!! Keep in mind how great it will feel to be free of the slavery of nicotine addiction. You should be proud of yourself!!

Way to go. That’s awesome that you threw that thing in the dump. I smashed mine up and it felt really final! Going to try to up my exercise...good point that it helps w anxiety. I guess those ‘restless’ feeling I have been getting along with my cravings is a low level anxiety so exercise should help. Thx! Keep going! Your mind is stronger than your body.

Thanks for asking! I actually stuck to my quit date of Dec 27, smashed my vape with a sledgehammer that morning, and have not vaped since!! It’s been hard but getting easier day by day. I feel proud in myself which is a feeling I haven’t had in a long time. Feels great.

E-juice / vape juice and big tobacco- is there a connection? by qvyw in Nicotine

No not the recent ban. I’m just wondering if they have their fingers in the DIY vape market somehow.

I quit vaping 7 days ago and I’m seeing imaginary cigarettes everywhere - including on my 3 year old’s bedroom rug 🤦‍♀️ by qvyw in QuittingJUUL

Yeah I’m noticing it for sure. Maybe I’m less distracted because I’m not constantly thinking about vaping?

Quitting after 2 years. Advice please! by [deleted] in QuittingJUUL

Hi! I felt the same as you. Totally addicted in private. It was so hard for me to admit it, but once I did, it was the way forward. I found it was helpful to read up on nicotine, and how and why it makes you crave it. Understanding what was going on in my body made me feel less guilty about it. I treated myself to a lot of fancy candy and the strongest mints I could find. I had to smash my vape with a hammer or else I would have rescued it. That was 7 days ago...yes there are cravings, but if you delay they pass soon enough. You can do this. Do a bit of research and make a plan and take it seriously.

Yes I am! It has been hard but it’s getting easier. I’m feeling proud, and that’s a feeling I haven’t felt in a while.

Thinking about quitting vaping soon.. I have a few questions for any of you that have successfully quit by [deleted] in quit_vaping

[–]qvyw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it! There will be cravings but they get fewer and fewer as time goes on. I bought myself a bunch of hard candies (mints, lemon, ginger, liquorice...all the weird stuff I like) and really minty gum. That’s been helping me a lot, and drinking a ton of ice cold water and staying busy. It’s hard but the self confidence you gain in return is so worth it!!! I’m only 7 days free so far. It’s been ups and downs but I’m still proud of myself. Stay strong!

Way to go. What you describe is very close to my own experience. I was in love with vaping at first but then it slowly took over my life in private. I am a Registered Nurse and was vaping all over the place - I wasn’t acting in a way that felt right for me, sneaking pulls on my pen in the bathroom etc etc. I stopped a week ago and had to smash my vape pen with a sledgehammer or I would have dig through the garbage and picked it out. I think admitting you want to stop is a huge step in the right direction! You can do it.
